This is such a beautiful place to walk/cycle/walk your dog/run or canoe. It is fairly flat although rather muddy in places and we did notice how quickly conditions can change; parts of the path which were fine when we used them mid morning were flooded across 2 hours later. It’s a beautiful open space with interesting features such as the many boats moored along the river banks, the locks, the fishing spots and lots more. We went down to the river from Woodlesford-quite a steep drop down to the river which seemed even steeper on the return leg of the journey. We were en route to RSPB St.Aidans. If you love the peace, tranquility, wildlife (especially birds) and the amazing locals & boat people to be found in such a setting you will be very much at home here. It was suffering a layer of floating weed for much of the distance I travelled although it was no problem for my narrowboat. Mooring is a little infrequent but the official visitor moorings are excellent. Not too many locks so I was able to cover a conciderable distance in a very short time.
