Honestly, despite the building upgrades, the golf experience has degraded significantly over the years.
This "Golf" center has focused so much on rebranding and renovating it's "Bistro" into some luxury artisan experience, the "Golf" here has been neglected. There was nothing wrong with the place in 2018 when it was a simple cafe, golfers just want a simple sausage on toast and a coffee, we dont need exquisite dining, being situated in Netherley it doesn't quite fit the demographic.
The price of £12 for 100 range balls is extortionate, you are expected to load £100 onto a pre paid card to get any sort of discount and even after that it is a very small percentage. The balls are in very very poor condition, some literally look like ping pong balls and the flights are not consistent on them, having recently hit 70, i would say only 25 flew true.
Yes the price includes a TopTracer screen, albeit these are pretty standard now. If your screen does not work, you are not offered any sort of reimbursement on the balls fee.
There are a lot of mats that are in a state of disrepair, ripped up, uneven and tired.
So much effort has gone into incorporating American Golf and adding a second floor for more income, that the fundamentals have been forgot, the outfield is a disgrace, they have blamed the weather, but no other local driving range seems to have suffered the same way. They are now in a crisis whereby they are having to drastically reduce the opening hours to try and salvage the outfield and returf.
The golf experience should always have been the company priority, not fine dining and american golf.
Haven't rated one star, because although some of the LGC staff are a little hard faced, the general experience is not terrible and the food is very nice and not...
Read moreUpon arriving at the club I wasn't greeted or told anything about the new system given he was on the phone. He made no indication to wait etc. So as I was setting up in a bay, he comes to say, "You can't just walk in here anymore, you need to book in when it is busy." Given I had found four consecutive free bays this didn't seem an issue. He then made me walk back to the front desk to get a basket given that I had a membership card and didn't need to buy anything from the main desk.
He then booked me in to the bay that was furthest faway. This bay had no electronic tee device and used the old fashioned rubber tees. This was more annoying as I know there were other free bays with better equipment. I can only imagine this was done on purpose by the man who was running the desk (Paul possibly)? It just isn't the standard I would hope for given the price I had spent.
I am a member of the nearest golf club to the facility and I will be passing on my experience to others. I wouldn't recommend it based on this. The facilities do seem to have been updated since my last visit, lots of fun tech, however I wasn't given the chance to...
Read moreUsed to be mine and my partners favourite driving range but one staff member has put us off ever coming back. Older fella who stands on reception who thinks he’s god’s gift with too much power. One occasion us and our 2 friends went, stopped for all of 15 seconds to have a quick bite of our food before carrying on(we weren’t even sat down) and were told “there’s people waiting, you can’t just stand there and eat” and one of the young lads came and said “he’s told me to move use upstairs, I’m sorry”, was this some form of punishment? Embarrassing. Came again a few months later, was quite busy when we arrived but no issues getting a bay. About half an hour later, we went to see if we could get more balls as it was no longer busy with multiple bays free and got told no? Would have had no issue if he hadn’t of been so rude about it. All of the other staff, especially Ian who works in the shop, are an absolute credit, shame “God’s gift” is...
