I have been using this Chippy since the Tom's had it from the 90's until they handed over to the new owners. The Service now is terrible. It is very slow even when you order online for collection, you're still waiting 20-30 mins before you get your food. Also, they close whenever they want. Mr Tom used to close once a year when he used to go back to China for about 3 or 4 weeks. Apart from that, they were open for the rest of the year. These new owners close when they want and for weeks on end. It's gone down hill in my eyes and they're are obviously not bothered about keeping loyal customers. I spent £20 on fish small chips small peas and curry a small fried rice and 5 chicken wings. Firstly the fish was awful!! Over fried could tell the fillet was previously frozen and no flavour on the fish or in the batter whatsoever. Speaking of the batter 🙈 it was so over fried It was all just nasty. The rice tasted like boil in a bag easy cook rice again awful 😞 Considering I asked for a small chips the portion was huge and tasted okay at best. The saving grace was the chicken wings. I've been a customer for years ordering very often from this place but last order was a joke. I ordered fish and chips and fish came cremated. I'm a chef myself and I would be embarrassed to serve that to customers yet they did. It's been a couple of times now food was not up to standard but I just let it go.
