I recently visited Alexandra Park in Manchester, near Rusholme, and it’s an absolute treasure for nature lovers and families alike. This beautifully maintained park is a serene oasis, bursting with charm and natural splendour. As I strolled through, the air was alive with the cheerful chirping of birds, creating a soothing backdrop that instantly calms the soul. The park’s tranquil lake is a standout feature, with ducks and waterfowl gliding gracefully across the water, adding a delightful touch of wildlife to the scene. Locals walking their dogs, some playfully darting about, contribute to the warm, community atmosphere.
The park is impeccably organised, with neat pathways winding through vibrant greenery, perfect for leisurely walks or more active pursuits. A charming cafeteria tucked within the park offers a cosy spot for a coffee or snack, with friendly staff and a spotless setup that enhances the experience. Convenient parking just outside ensures easy access. Alexandra Park is a haven for families—children were joyfully cycling, running, and engaging in light sports, with ample space for play. The park’s clean, well-kept environment and abundant natural beauty make it a true gem in Manchester. Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat or a fun-filled family day out, this enchanting, nature-rich park is a must-visit destination that leaves you refreshed...
Read moreGood old "Ally Park" Moss side.Situated between Princess rd and Alexander rd south as it merges with Whalley range..Its like an oasis of green in a sea of brick & concrete. This park always takes me back to spending endless days of sunshine (in my younger days with friends during our six weeks holidays off school). The gardens were much bigger then with an "enclosed Rockery" that became well known for lovers romantic liasons back in the day 😜.Even today the park is a Great space for all the family to go play, football, have a picnic, feed the ducks or catch tidlers in the fair sized pond (situated in the centre of the park), play cricket, Good tennis court, great refreshments in the park cafe, good for Joggin, or just to go for a walk away from all the traffic and what have you. Some people cycle through the park (but im not sure if thats actually allowed). Efforts have been made more recently to provide "some" night time illumination within the park but i still wouldnt fancy taking short cuts throught it alone after dark like some do, & Why would you? Also There are great annual events offering a good mixture off funfair rides cultural food and drink combined with a taste of caribean music such as live reggae bands, soca, and salsa, dancers etc. If youve never experienced the annual Caribean carnival give it a...
Read moreI recently attended an event in this lovely spacious park situated in the heart of Manchester in an area that i grew up in "Moss Side". Spending an afternoon at this location or indeed whenever i visit this area of Manchester always fills me with memories of mostly happy childhood days. Adding to my memories was the fact that the event i was in the park attending was the annual "Windrush" "anniversary" event. I myself was one of those who travelled here to the UK as a youngster with his parents all those years ago. Growing up in the UK has brought many happy memories as well as some not so happy but thats life. As a kid ALEXANDER PARK in the moss area was a great place to spend our six weeks holidays playing football, eating ice Lollys, fishing for tiddlers in the pond as well as riding our bikes and having fun.All these memories were dating back from the late 50s 60s 70s 80s etc right to the present. This review as you see has no negative reflections apart from the apparent lack of a public convenience which those attending had to overcome by rushing to the nearby bushes for relief. All in all the windrush anniversary event was a well attended one with lots of traditional west indies food on offer and live music to bring a smile to all in attendance. The lack of a fifth (rating)star was reluctant based on the...
