Efficiently run punt hire station with plenty of boats (around 80!) available. Weekdays are quieter (no queuing!) than weekends, which can get pretty busy. Life jackets (some of which are a bit hit and miss) are provided for and must be worn by non-swimmers. What's particularly nice is that you don't have to commit to a specific amount of time; after the first hour (which is the minimum length of hire) you're charged for each additional 15 minutes and you can spend as much time out as you wish (there's a maximum daily charge - equivalent to 5 hours of punting). You'll pay a fairly hefty (returnable) deposit up front and the cost of the hire is deducted from the amount returned to your credit card once you're back. There's limited parking available on site but you should be able to park in the surrounding streets (although do check the signs). There are decent loos on site and you can buy sandwiches

We were visiting with locals and have done this several times now.. Always a lovely experience.. A lot less fuss than perhaps you may be expecting! You turn up, they say, " do you want a boat?" yes... okay get a pole cushions and a paddle, leave your card as a deposit -- and that's it.. all aboard, untie , push off and away you go... How hard can it be! Assuming you have a rough idea of what to do and are game for laugh then a treat awaits you... Punt your way to the Victoria Arms and enjoy a leisurely pint even better if someone else does all the work 😉 you just sit back and enjoy... On my trip today we were treated to a fly over by 1st Spitfire and then a Hurricane.. Wow 👌

Lovely! A small pedal, a ridiculously long punt, a wooden boat, some cushions, ducks, grumpy swans, a magnificent river, some mates with you (whom you hopefully like) and a drink - a truly fabulous experience as long as you don't end up in the water, but if you do, it might be quite entertaining for the others, anyway, highly recommended!

Had a wonderful time punting, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with our two teenage daughters and fluffy Cavapoo. The whole experience was smooth and efficient - helpful that we had gone punting before. We handed over a debit card as a deposit to the friendly gentleman (with the beard!). Got our 4 cushions, punting pole and paddle from inside and off we went to our boat #23. Took a leisurely 40 minute punt to the Vicky Arms - would suggest arriving at 12pm as they get busy during the day. Afterwards we punted back the other way and into Oxford. When we got back we found that it’s easier if someone sits on the edge of the bank with their feet on the punt to keep it still, while others get out with the stuff. Paying at the end was easy and smooth and we had a great chat with Dave about dogs. What a surprisingly pleasant experience and we will be back...

We were told this was a good place to try punting as it's quieter than other places in the area. Reading the reviews I was worried that it wouldn't be an enjoyable family experience however it couldn't have been any more enjoyable. 3 hours free parking on neighbouring streets and then a short walk to the boathouse. We arrived 5 minutes late but the young lad handling the booking was great. Great customer service skills making us feel special by recommending his favourite boat (39) for us saying it was the best designed and was easier than the others. Lots of others punting for first time so no need to feel embarrassed at lack of skills. Read the "how to punt" on their website first as this was an immense help. In the end a truly fab sunny afternoon on the river. Should have brought some Pimms and strawberries for the perfect experience. Highly...
