Visited as a group of 10 for a birthday overnight stay was booked into explorer 10 lodge, not suitable for children or big groups really not enough space to start with small L shape sofa and 2 beanbags thrown in corner certainly not enough space for 10 to be seated!advertisment states all you need for comfortable stay this simple isn't true! No amenities available other than a kettle only the water for this has to be used from the washroom/ toilet as no other supply in the lodge booked for 4 adults 6 children we had 4 cups and 3 plastic beakers which was dirty left in the lodge so not even enough for amount of people booked in paid over £600 for 1 night with the added extra of lodge trimmed up for birthday and a cake £49 for this, decoration was terrible 2 banners on window and 1 balloon when booked for 6 children not even a cheap pack of balloons so all children could have 1didnt feel or look like it was trimmed for a birthday, gullys visit lasted all of 3 minutes passed cake few pics and on his way children didn't get to eat any cake as no plates in lodge to serve any on or cutlery to cut it with.visited customer services on a few occasions with our concerns regarding the lodge there was 0 interest received just wanted to pass blame to customer services on phone as they booked it and should of made us aware nothing was supplied in the lodges as need to make more room to fit more people in was response.unable to make anything to snack on for children and nowhere to purchase anything once closed,no vending machine or anything to purchase children a drink.walkway upto lodge is pitch black with no lightning till you reach near the actual lodge to activate the outside light.would recommend if a group of people to separate up into the caravan lodges as they do have things you need for a more comfortable stay.sleeping beauty pantomime was good kids enjoyed this along with the morning show and Santa's visit which helped raise spirits a little after such disappointing start with accomodation and party package.Think the advertising needs looking at and making clear that nothing comes with the large lodges so people with children know to bring drinks and finger snacks incase of hungry children as food is terrible that's supplied with shows, rock hard sausages been cooked and left far too long.given 2 stars for the entertainment team of shows and Santa otherwise would of been a 1 star customer service needs vast...
Read moreWe visited on a stay overnight with 2 days park admission. We had two children with us ages 7 and 2. The 7 year old really enjoyed the rides and the queue times weren't too bad ( visited 23/24th August) the only real queues were for some rapids which we never went on. The 2 year old was entertained by the play areas and there are lots of them and the dinosaurs in the Jurassic area. The park isn't too spread out which is good for kids, but some areas weren't open until mid day (the western area) whilst we were there which did cause a bit of a rise in queue times in the other areas. The operations were slow to load and u load people and it looked like they could have used more staff per ride to make things a bit faster but other than that the kids enjoyed it, there were a variety of different rides to go on and with having 2 days there we didn't have to rush around, which was good for the little one as he wanted to play. Food prices are as you would expect a little higher than shops but the food was a decent quality, however the main restaurant was so dark at lunchtime. We had chicken nuggets and chips x2, burger and chips, hotdog and chips and it came to almost £40 with drinks. Cans of pop were £1.95 and slush £6 with £2.50 refills with a promotional cup. Ice cream was £3 of £4 with a flake. 12" pizza was £12/13. You can bring in food there are plenty of picnic tables and seating around the park and lots of people were doing this, had we known we could do this we would have also. We made our evening meal in our caravan on site which was in good condition had 3 bedrooms, 2*single in 2 of the rooms and a double bed with ensuite sink/toilet. The main bathroom had the only shower but was warm and had decent pressure. Caravan was fully kitted out with bedding ,towels, and kitchen utensils and plates. Had an oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, full fridge freezer. It was very clean ( we were in no.1 in Jurassic area just as you enter the accommodations section..it was pretty quiet even been at the front) there is a playground right next to some of the lodges further round and there were kids on there till very late screaming. Overall for kids it's great not too long quese when we were there and a variety of rides and lots of play areas for those not big enough for rides to be entertained by. Lots of picnic tables and areas for you to bring your own...
Read moreWe stayed over in a princess suite in the castle and it was great value for money. For £170 it included 2 days in the park for 2 adults and 2 children plus our accommodation, evening meal, entertainment and breakfast. You really can't beat that for the price. And it's a wonderful place for children, mine are the perfect age for Gulliver's at 5 and 9 years old. There's plenty for small children but just enough 'bigger stuff' that could keep my 9 year old entertained too. Our princess room was very cutely decorated and came with 3 bunk beds and a big king size, plus a little outdoor seating area and mini fridge.
Obviously the price is very reasonable so you can't expect fine dining, the meals are very no frills, similar to McDonald's, it's all a set menu of one option and same at breakfast but again you get what you pay for and my kids were perfectly happy with this.
A couple things to note... This park has quite a bad wasp issue. They were everywhere. Probably not much Gulliver's themselves can do about it as it's just the time of year but definitely something to watch out for. I would recommend eating inside for this reason.
Secondly the rooms don't have air con or windows so either take a fan with you or try and get one from reception. They did have a few but it was first come first served and they got snapped up quick!
Also there are many rides without much or any shade when queuing so pack lots of water to keep everyone hydrated. Most queues are actually quite short, 10 mins or so but a few like the rapids and the t rex tower are about half an hour and it was 27° so we definitely needed plenty of water.
They sell slush drinks which were a god send in the heat. They do charge £5 each for them but after that if you keep the cup you can refill them for £2. We bought 3 between us on the first day and then kept the cups and kept refilling them over both days.
Also if it's hot I recommend making use of the large indoor activity area to cool down for a bit. There's bouncy castles, climbing, soft play and a few rides plus lots of little snack bars in there.
Overall we had a great time and the kids did not...
