It's a lovely hotel, let me just say that, it is a really nice hotel. Having said that, for that illusive fith star they need to do a few things better. The rooms need updating, the air con does not work in all rooms, my tap leaks when left in a certain position and the paint is peeling off the walls in the bathroom. The gym and Spa are quality but the steam room and sauna both need a deep clean. If I could review the restaurant separately I would give it 0 stars. The menu is overpriced for what it is, for those prices you expect at least a competent chef. Because of the prices I only ate here twice during my stay and both times I was served raw chicken. The front of house staff could not do enough for me and the duty manager seemed genuinely aggrieved by the situation. However, once is a mistake but twice is ridiculous. I genuinely hope they do something about this before someone gets ill. Having said all this my stay was really good, the nights were quite and the bed comfortable. What a place, one of the best and toughest golf courses I have played for a long time. Some of the holes are a bit on top of each other but lined by massive trees that make the course very narrow, making accuracy on your drivers essential. One of our group gave up his driver after 6 holes and didn't use it again all weekend. Deeta and Laura in the pro shop were exceptional polite and helpful. Could not do enough for you. This extended into the hotel where reception manager Louise and her team had the kind of customer service that everyone should attempt to match up to. The restaurant and bar was beautiful designed and food was epic, just wish the bar snacks were available longer as got peckish and they only had crisps. Really could not fault the place.

One issue, a golfing one. The slow play on the Sunday. We hit the back 9 and out of nowhere we got stuck behind a group of 6, YES 6 who tried to convince us they were two groups. I was looking forward to my round of golf on a bank holiday and I was very disappointed by the fact that when I arrived I was mis informed about the price with it being £10 extra. Along with this the whole course was like playing on concrete as the fairways had no grass and so was unplayable. The only good thing was the tee box’s being very lush and the greens were very very fast. All in all I would not come again and would not recommend to other as over priced...
