We came on the recommendation of friends and it didn’t disappoint! On this particular Sunday morning, it seemed that everyone was coming here too! The car park was full and the warden was allowing one car in and one car out. We manage to wait a couple of minutes before someone left. Once you are walking along the paths, it didn’t feel busy at all! Plenty of space to walk around. The view of the reservoir was beautiful!! We took our dog who loved it too! It was quite muddy in places so suitable footwear is a must! Plus, there were patches of black ice!! Will definitely be back again when it’s warmer and do the longer route!! There’s also toilet facilities which is useful especially if you are taking a flask of coffee along the way!!

It is a really nice place to go for a walk but it's being spoilt by running clubs cycling clubs and irresponsible horse riders. The off road cyclists now treat it as a rally track around Langsett reservoir and many like horse riders ignore the NO CYCLING signs and tear arse down FOOTPATHS ! also some of the speeds they get up to especially when passing walkers with pets and children is scary especially coming down through the woods on 'footpaths' where visibility isn't good because the paths bend. Same with the runners who now treat it as the new running track and go around in packs running down paths designed in some parts for 1 to 2 at most side by side. You're trying to walk along when there's packs running down the paths. And lastly , irresponsible horse riders who think that they can ride on very narrow paths despite it clearly stating NO HORSES ON THIS PATH . All in all its a nice walk (( if )) you can manage to pick a day when any of the above 3 are not...

I've been here a good few times and love the views and the variety it provides. There's a lovely pine forest section which is rooty but safe (amazing on a bike), a stoney walk up to the top along the edge, mooreland covered in heather at the top, and a beautiful well maintained path through the woods with great views over the reservoir. Dog owners - there are sheep up the top, but not many and they seem to stay clear of the path.

If you plan to bike I recommend you go anti-clockwise around the reservoir. This means you go downhill through the rooty woods and downhill over the small technical rocky section at the far end. Clockwise on a bike would be a very steep up hill, boring downhill and slog uphill over roots. Trust me,...
