Until today I had been happy with Bank View Cafe but we went in for Father's Day today and the customer service was truly awful.
We had to wait a while to put our order in and we couldn't even see any staff at this point. While being served, we were told it would be a 40 minute wait for food which we thought was unusual as the cafe was essentially empty but agreed anyway. We ended up waiting over an hour for food which when it was brought we ended up waiting again for cutlery.
Another customer who arrived before us got frustrated waiting and asked them what was happening. They blamed a machine that was cooking the eggs though I don't know if the machine was used for everything as we didn't order anything with eggs. He then heard the staff being rude about him in the kitchen (it was very very loud) and then asked for his money back and walked out.
We elected to have three light vegan breakfasts which we hadn't had before but had had the large one previously. This cost more than half as much as the large and was absolutely tiny. It didn't help that it was missing one of the things the menu said it came with. I commented to the person who brought it to the table that it was very light. I then heard her and the other staff criticising me in the kitchen very loudly.
I also overheard them being rude about other customers who had complained to them earlier in the day so clearly the poor service today was not an isolated incident.
Another customer even told the staff in the kitchen off for not washing their hands at one point.
It seemed to me that the young staff lacked any responsible supervision as I saw tables stacked high with old plates for over 45 minutes while we were sat there and I didn't notice much/any food being brought out for other tables (of which there weren't many people inside).
I hope that this is a one-off problem at the cafe but I won't be making any effort to come to this cafe again after such a poor experience. It really put a downer on...
Read moreGenuinely one of the most horrendous experiences I've had. I also believe the owner needs mental health support, and I mean that with sincerity. We booked a room for a business meeting as their website advertised we could. Upon arrival we where asked to move out cars from the car park to the nearby public car park, fair enough I thought as we had 22 members of staff present and it's a small car park. I asked if I could set up a tab and if he would want me to leave a card or deposit, the response was don't worry we would find you, which I considered alarming and aggressive. Half way through my meeting/training the owner once again interrupted me mid conversation to say more cars would need moving( we only had three cars left, one being mine and as I was paying the bill thought I should have a space) I promptly said not a problem just give us ten. The owner the shouted I was disrespectful and stood in the centre of the room fists clenched, eyes shut doing breathing exercises, wow! I did say we had brought 22 people in all having drinks and a meal that he wouldn't normally have, and had he asked any other customers to move? He continued doing breathing exercises. I asked staff to move whatever cars where left. When exiting I asked to speak to him but was refused.
The ladies serving where nice and polite. The food is standard greasy spoons food, but is over charged.
What you don't realise is we have been visiting your cafe with clients for over three years now and had that big meeting, we now won't be visiting again in any capacity, so by trying to penny pinch on one day you've lost a lot of revenue, when you didn't need to , you just...
Read moreEaten here many times and quite honestly I can't relate the poor reviews shown on the TripAdviser website to my experience at this eating place, though it must be said there didn't seem to be many negative reviews. I have never had to wait a lengthy time for service at BankView nor have I ever had reason to complain about the food or the atmosphere. If people expect fancy food then go somewhere else. The food is good though not fancy and the price is right for that, but it is decent food and deliciously acceptable. The cakes and scones are fabulous and you can buy them to take out and that doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. On the whole the place is fine. I go there often but then again I am a person of simple tastes who is relatively easily pleased and who does not spend their lives complaining about all and sundry, and lets face it having to wait for 15 or 20 minutes for your food to be cooked, which is not a common occurrence here, is not a life shattering event. For those who want fast food service and the food that goes with it there is a mcdonalds about 8 miles towards the motorway and you'll get served quickly there and pay through the nose for stodgy and yet more stodgy food and have the wonderful view of a filling station, a hotel and a roundabout to admire. They can complain and gripe at the food and the service there and believe me there is plenty to...
