You can see as far as the snowdonia mountain range and the great orme at Llandudno to the west which is approximately 68 miles to the highest peaks of snowdonia as the crow flies as it shows in the pictures I've uploaded on a very very clear day with zero smog, And there's quite a lot to see the other way looking east towards winter hill, some lovely views up their and its a perfect location on a sunny day for walking or picnicking or bike riding you can also see parts of the lake district mountain range aswell if the weather is clear enough if you look north towards Blackpool Tower (between the trees just left of Billinge woods)

Not a bad walk. It only takes about 15 minutes from Beacon Road. Lovely views, though and a fantastic bluebell woodland. You can see Liverpool, Manchester, Clwydian Hills and Frodsham Hill.

Highest point in Merseyside. You can see all the way to Liverpool Docks. The peak district to the east and the Welsh mountains on a clear day.

As far as hills are concerned this is definitely a hill. It has up bits and down bits and bits in between. You can get to it on foot, by road and by helicopter. There is a stone block at the top which people sit on while looking out over Wigan and wondering how much better the world would be without it. For fans of filled over landfill sites there's a fantastic filled over landfill site near the top...
