Tesco gave me a £5 note as change which they then refuse to accept because they said it was fake!?!
I had a very disappointing experience at Tesco recently, and it all stemmed from a frustrating interaction with the manager. I used the self-service checkout for a small purchase of under £5, inserting a £10 note and receiving change that included a £5 note. An assistant kindly reminded me to take the note, which I did.
When I tried to use the £5 note at the customer service desk, it was rejected as fake. I was confused, as the self-service machine had just given me this note! When I asked to speak with the manager, I hoped for some help, but instead, I was met with rudeness.
The manager simply reiterated that the note might be fake and implied that I could have swapped it out. I felt insulted. I pointed out that the assistant had seen me take the note and suggested checking the CCTV, but she just brushed me off, saying they don’t have to accept it.
It's outrageous that Tesco would issue notes they then refuse to accept. The manager was dismissive and showed zero interest in resolving the issue or helping me. She didn't introduce herself, and her lack of customer service skills was evident.
Overall, this experience left me feeling angry and frustrated. I expected...
Read moreI do my weekly essential shop here, find everything I need. Depending on time I go there maybe a slight wait to go in via the traffic light system but it's nothing major. I do find shopping here is very focused on social distancing I've never had a problem of overcrowding in the aisles compared to my recent visit to asda in St. Helens. OMG what an experience, I went on Saturday before mothers day, waited outside for over 15 mins, which I get to stop the store overcrowding. But once I got in it was like a free for all , no social distancing anywhere especially near the flower section as they'd extended flowers to near enough the entrance of the store. Picked my flowers up, just for curiosity I went around the store, in different aisles, not one bit of social distancing respected here. Not sure how many customers are allowed in at anyone time, but for me there was far more in than there should have been. My 1st trip to asda since lockdown 12mths ago, it'll be my last. I'll continue to shop at tesco were i feel my safety is taken seriously, well done Tesco...
