Come for food with high hopes and left with a smile on our face, we were served by Krishna a South Indian native who was beyond knowledgable about the food they are serving, the attitude and dedication he had to keeping this South Indian experience authentic was a real treat to see and be a part of.
From the moment we sat down we were waited on hand and foot, Krishna couldn’t do more himself to accommodate your needs whilst dining and he does it all with a warm and inviting presence and personality.
The atmosphere itself was something unexpected for the restaurant to be serving such high quality fresh and totally authentic South Indian cuisine and not be packed on a Friday night was heartbreaking, the passion and pride the staff had for their country of origin and its culture as well as its food was out of this world.
Please if you have any doubts about this restaurant or are debating whether or not it’s for you, I implore you to come and see for yourself you will not be disappointed, I’d recommend doing what myself and my partner which was to ask Krishna direct as a South Indian native what dishes he would recommend because it is the best food I’ve eaten in my life, bursting with flavour and a...
Read moreWent to Epicurean in Haydock today, for lunch. Highly recommend it. Tried lots of starters and 3 mains, which we all shared banquet style. All very tasty. Reasonably priced. Hadn't even finished our meal and we're talking about what we're ordering next time, yum! We thought the standard of cooking and choice was as good as high end street food Indian restaurants we like eg Dishoom, Permit Rooms, Chilli Pickle, Mowgli etc. It's wonderful to see authentic Indian dishes in St Helens that are different from the norm, and won't require a trip to a city. I hope this little gem thrives, it deserves too. Treat yourselves, and spread the word. We were too distracted by the lovely food to take pictures. And we didn't look at the desert menu, since getting home and finding Epicurean on fb, I noticed they had gulab jamun on the xmas menu. Omg I hope that's on the desert menu. Never understood why no Indian restaurant ever offers Indian sweets. And gulab jamun is...
Read more5 stars plus. New anglo-south indian restaurant in Haydock, family owned, cooked fresh (hence the wait but plenty of signs on the wall to make customers aware), and more importantly, the first south indian food withina 25 mile radius. We have travelled extensively to South India and the distinctive freshness and spices used have always tingled our palates. We used to have to travel to Bolton to reminisce those beautiful dishes, but now it's a 7min drive from us and the food is absolutely worth it.
The restaurant wasnt as busy as I expected on a Friday night but might be down to the restaurant being humble in its promotion. We only found the place out of sheer luck and ate there twice in two weeks.
Looking forward to returning and taking our families to experience this beautiful, authentic south...
