St Marys Fish & Chips — Local services in Stoke-on-Trent

Been here twice 1st time was just over a month ago which then the food was perfect couldn't fault it. The younger man was working that day and was nice and chatty. 2nd time today and food wasn't nice apart from the chicken nuggets which were the most edible out of the food ordered. Fish was really greasy, mushy peas weren't exactly mushy as most were hardish chewy with no taste, chips had no taste. Gravy was quite thick but tasted ok. I did go in and let them know but didn't seem bothered. The younger man was there also today so was surprised by him not being bothered as he did seem ok the first time. Would never ever go back here again and a pity I have to give 1 star, Would be zero! I ordered fish, chips and spicy curry sauce and was really looking forward to it, I'm afraid my excitement was very short lived. Fish was really minimal in a very hard unedible batter, chips were tasteless I tried to eat them but they didn't hit the mark at all. Curry sauce was the nicest bit of the meal and that's all I could say was worth the star. I'd definitely recommend avoiding this place and I should of let someone who was complaining about the sausages whilst I was in there put me...

Visited for the first time today - Intially a bit reluctant - I've been to so many chiipies paid a small fortune with average at best food. I was starving and decided to risk it! Glad I did:

The staff were pleasant, everything looked nice and clean. All the food looked fresh and really nice. I had small chips, small fish and gravy which was £6.75.

The portion wasn't small, in fact bigger than most other places large version and first class - I really enjoyed the meal, in particular the fish, all at a very reasonable price.
