Nice vast area of nature so close to Gloucester. Pedestrian access to the site not the most pleasant with busy roads and underpasses, but the A40 makes the island quite accessible. Full of history, old railway remains or canals and many quiet paths! Cattle often block some fields, so be careful where to tread...

Mass of land surrounded by water = Island. Just because its a river that surrounds it and not a sea or lake, doesn't make this any less of an island. Lovely place for walks all year round. Also, you get to share your walks with different breeds of cattle (depending on time of year) which can be fun for the kids...
