Absolutely awful service and could t care less attitude
Booked for anniversary lunch to include 2 children
Children’s menu brought out so we ordered from it only to be told that only two of the items were available after we asked for our choice. We then asked if one of the children could have just a small plain burger - they checked with the chef and were told no- the child (5 yrs old) could have the one on the main menu which was £14 but the chef wouldn’t do a plain one for him
Service incredibly slow too
Meals eventually came out in scolding hot plates - one of which was handed to a 2 year old
Of course I stopped it and requested it be out in a cold plate for him
Asked to speak to manager to be told she’s off today so asked who was in charge and nobody was
Then puddings were ordered - 3 all just ice cream and had to wait over half an hour and had to chase these too
First pudding came - strawberry ice cream that was ordered - child began eating and then another 3 puddings came out - including another strawberry ice cream. When we advised we already had it they told us we had a strawberry fool - this wasn’t even on the menu but miraculously appeared and was given to child.
Of course we complained and they did take the pudding off as a gesture but overall and for a special occasion (which they were aware of at booking) the service was appalling and we will not...
Read moreOver an hour and a half wait, there was only 9 people in there to serve so can’t work out why everything took so long, not just for us but all the diners. One of our party is anaphylactic to dairy and egg. The menu does show plenty of dairy free options, although I did point out the burgers can’t be dairy free when served on a brioche bun. Eventually our food started to come out, when the dairy free chicken and calamari came out it had a sauce drizzled over it which the very helpful waitress on only her second day in the job went back to check the sauce ingredients before rushing back to remove it from the table as it contained dairy. The wait continued but at least no one died. Lastly my wife’s loaded fries came to table now approaching 2 hours. The menu had it as pulled pork and crispy onions, it was presented to us as a few pieces of bacon and a few pieces of spring onions with chips. The fish and chips which I had was not as good as it had been when we had visited previously. Very disappointed and such a shame the chef didn’t come out to apologise for the dairy free mistake as for us it’s life or death. The waitress on her second day was the only one to offer an apology and I felt that was poor. The beer and cider are very...
Read moreWould like to say a big thank you to all the front of house staff and a big shout out to our server Alfie. The service throughout our visit was wonderful, very kind and knowledgeable on what the pub had to offer.
We had the pleasure of eating at the lock keeper for their Sunday roasts and puddings. The food was very flavourful, fresh and well presented and all ten of us didn't have a bad comment to say about the food. We each had a roast (pork, chicken, beef), the pub was also able to accomodate for a vegetarian roast option and a range of different desserts.
The pub was very accommodating to our group as we had emailed to book our table and the communication was quick and easy and any questions we had asked were answered.
When we arrived we had two dogs and they had prepared a table for us knowing this which was situated in a warm cosy area but leaving enough distance from any other tables so we weren't disturbing them.
The only critique we all said was it was a shame to see the manager have stern words with the staff at a loud enough volume that we could all hear, especially as it was feedback about the service to our table. Which once again I would like to highlight ...
