A Peaceful Day at The Grove Spa – With Room for Improvement
Lunch: The lunch offering was more of a light bite than a full meal. Selected the duck roll and salmon poke bowl—both were pleasant, but quite modest in portion. I would have appreciated a healthier balance, perhaps with fewer portion of refined carbs and a greater emphasis on proteins and fresh vegetables. (I.e. less rice, more salmon, and a veggie side)
Spa Facilities: The relaxation room was truly lovely—quiet, comfortable, and perfect for switching off from the outside world. However, the overall spa facilities were fairly standard. There is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a steam room near the pool, with an additional sauna and jacuzzi located within the female changing area. Unfortunately, we were unable to use the steam room near the pool, and the one next to the women’s changing room was excessively hot—to the point it caused discomfort and minor burns to my legs and feet. Despite raising this with staff, no action was taken during our visit, which was disappointing.
Massage: I’ve had exceptional massages at The Grove in the past, so I was a little let down on this occasion. The therapist was friendly but overly talkative, which detracted from the relaxing atmosphere I was hoping for. I also found myself repeatedly having to explain my preferences before I could fully enjoy the treatment. In the past, the standard has been comparable to that of experienced therapists that I do weekly treatment with, but this visit did not meet that same level.
Overall: While the experience was still enjoyable, it did not quite match the standards I’ve come to associate with The Grove Spa. That said, I would return—particularly if accompanying my husband for a golf weekend—but I hope the spa will address these issues to ensure a consistently excellent experience...
Read moreMy partner took me to The Grove for my birthday on the 21st of July. We come here regularly, so I was really looking forward to the day. When booking the spa day, my partner told the staff I was around two months pregnant. They recommended the pregnancy massage, and he even filled out a form confirming this. Everything seemed fine.
When we arrived, I was told I was too early in my pregnancy for a massage due to their insurance policy. This was extremely disappointing and upsetting, especially as I am hormonal and emotional at the moment, and it was the one spa treatment I could safely enjoy while pregnant. I ended up in tears. It felt like my birthday was ruined.
My partner, who works very hard, had also booked himself a massage, but he cancelled it in solidarity because he did not feel right having his when I could not have mine. This made the day feel even more disappointing for both of us.
The spa facilities themselves are very minimal, and no food or snacks are served at the terrace, which is far from ideal for a pregnant woman who needs to eat regularly.
The one saving grace of the day was spending time with my partner and meeting Deb at the front desk. She was absolutely lovely and deserves special recognition. What a woman. She is a true gem and the only real highlight of the experience.
Unfortunately, because of the handling of the situation and the lack of consideration despite our clear communication when booking, I will not be returning to...
Read moreWhen I first went to this spa 7 years ago I really thought this was the best place to have a monthly pamper session. From the spa to the massages, the beautiful grounds, everything was great. It just kinda went downhill since. The month the masseuse was okay but you can tell she was inexperienced. I had the Mediterranean massage booked for an hour and a half (£175 so not cheap). For about 60-70 minutes of that there were continuous loud banging noises. I had to ask the masseuse to go outside and see what was going on in the middle of my massage. It was not relaxing or pleasant by any means. I had an apology at the end and she told me she would ask the manager to give me a call to see if they can rearrange my appointment again. 3 days later I received a call from the manager, who honestly was unapologetic and rude. She had no time for explanations or even a small apology for what had happened. She booked me in and then out the phone down before I could even say “thank you bye”. Don’t think I’ll be spending any more of my money here. To even think that I was about to pay out £2750 for their gym membership. I think because I an young they really didn’t take me seriously and treat me the same as they would anyone else, so I’d rather spend my money somewhere that treats everyone...
