Detemined the weather wasn't going to was out the entire weekend so headed off upto Holyhead Mountain, #holyheadmountain. Thankfully the rain & snow held off, however the wind certainly didn't, making it not the best for taking photo's. High winds simply result in unsteady hands where a tripod wasn't a great idea. 🙁
This was just a great little stroll out for the afternoon, untill I reached the back end of the trail & suddenly found the route to #copasummit . A quick steep walk down to the North Stack Fog Station #northstackfogstation & a sudden steep walk back up again to the summit.
A great location for walking, hiking, cyclng, running & even climbing for those brave enough. The route has everykind of terrain you could need.

Read moreA moderately challenging ascent to this quartzite rock summit of 220 metres above sea level with rewarding views as far as distant Ireland on favourably clear days. This is a superb hiking location in an area rich in ancient human history which includes remnants of Iron Age huts and a Roman Watchtower. The Anglesey South Stack lighthouse is perched serenely atop a small nearby offshore island surveying the foamy white tipped waves of the Irish Sea. Holyhead mountain also overlooks an important coastal site for seabirds including Gannets, Puffins and Guillemots. While resting on a turfy bouldered outcrop I was especially pleased to encounter a Comma Butterfly (Polygonia c-album) Nymphalidae, with its characteristic scalloped edge wings. Also a Brown Argus (Aricia Agestis) Lycaenidae, prettily flashing its orange spotted wing extremities. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are of course recommended for the enhancement of a safe...
Read moreTook us about an hour and 15 minutes to walk up, parking at South Stack lighthouse area and followed the trail up. Easy going initially but as you get onto the face of the Mountain, you reach boulders etc although the pathway is fairly obvious with steps all the way up. It gets tough going as you get further up! Myself and my kids aren't regular walkers but we managed with a couple of pauses for a breather! The views up top are stunning! You can see the whole port of holyhead, on a clear day you can...
