Stayed there for 3 nights. It was booked as bed and breakfast, but we were given misleading information. A few weeks before the payment was taken, Pentre Riding Stables sent me a message saying that the breakfast will be served to the room. I didn't pay much attention to this until the last minute before arrival when I started asking questions about what Thom and how they are serving that breakfast. I received a response that the breakfast is a hamper basket and you have to prepare your breakfast from what your are given. In the basket we were given a few slices of cheap toast bread, two crumpets, two pancakes, a few little butters and two little marmalades, a few biscuits, a bottle of milk and a bottle of juice. There were jars of sugars sachets and cereal. No tea or coffee. On the last morning the jar of cereal disappeared. All that was given for 3 people. If we did not go shopping, we would be starving. All stuff was cheap stuff from Tesco. In the instructions book, there was information that due to COVID restrictions they are not serving cooked breakfasts. A bit outdated. |There was no sink in the room, so we had to wash up in the bathroom basin which was extremely small. |There was a microwave, a leaky kettle and a fridge in the room. |The owner said that they are planning to install a kitchen sink in the room, but the room is always booked so there is no time to do so.||The bathroom was spacious enough, however smelly after using shower. Some plumbing work is definitely needed there. The shower sliding door were not properly fitted and there was a hole left in the ceiling. ||We stayed in room 1, ground floor. The room was spacious, but the door definitely needs some repair. |There is no WiFi or telephone signal in the building and nearby area, which makes things a bit difficult if you want to search information up. Also it makes it rather impossible to contact your hosts if anything in the room goes wrong.||On the positive side, our TV broke on the second day and was replaced straight away...
Read moreWe booked a room at stables after researching exact location, however unfortunately we did not even step foot in stables. Before arrival we were asked if we would like to stay in some cottage 5 minutes away from stables, as there was a wedding taking place in a castle across the road. Without us even agreeing to it, in the morning of arrival we were directed via text message to the supposed cottage that turned out to be some house in the middle of nowhere, away from village and half an hour walk away from the stables. I am guessing Karen, who contacted us, was just trying to place all the wedding guests in stables and just rerouting everyone else to whatever... This massively affected our plans as we were too far away from the willage to be able to go out for a dinner and a drink in the evening and took away our chance of socialising to any people at all. The room we were given itself was OK... Mattress was the definition of springy, but bareable for one night. The room door was so difficult to close and had to be slammed every time, the towel rail didn't work and we could not dry our wet clothes after hiking. We would have loved to had stayed in the accommodation that we booked, with a beautiful castle across the road, however this not at all what we got. Just a tip for anyone - if you are asked if you'd like to stay in a cottage 5 min away from main building, say no, unless you'd like to be alone in the middle nowhere and half hours walk from...
Read moreWe had planned a nice couple of days in Wales as a very much needed break. When we arrived here in the evening there was no sign of anyone around. We knocked on the doors and several windows for about 10 minutes. We then went to knock on the neighbouring house and only then a lady eventually called from the doorstep. At this point we were turned away and told we couldn't stay as they had no power and there hadn't been any power for several days.
The real issue is that we weren't contacted in any way to inform us and allow us time to rethink our plans. Only a 5 minute walk down the road were houses with lights on and good phone signal so this would definitely have been possible.
There wasn't much in the way of an apology and no effort to try and help us find anywhere else to stay. After trying to find somewhere this late in the day we had to turn around and drive home. In the end we wasted a tank and a half of fuel, a couple of days annual leave and had to pull over to recharge on coffee just so we could make it home without falling asleep at the...
