West Texas Fair & Rodeo — Local services in Abilene

The live music acts are usually lame and so old only senior citizens care or know their music. With the big push Abilene is making to become a more popular place for live music, the WTFR would be the perfect platform to bring in country artists like Koe Wetzel, Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, Ryan Bingham or christian and rock artists too! On the 2nd, small stage could be local artists like Holt Jones, Colton Fox and Clancy Jones playing acoustic sets. The crowd would grow exponentially, you could charge more for tickets and generate revenue from alcohol sales. Better food vendors would be a huge plus too! I am always disappointed in the choices and taste. I would probably rate food a1☆.

An App that provides a layout of vendors, rodeo schedule, fair news, daily schedule and events, music acts and times, tractor pull schedule, etc. Everything in ONE place to keep attendees informed and updated on latest news. You could probably have in app ticket purchases and just let people scan their phone for entry and pick up bracelet...

The fair was ok but really expensive. If you have little kids and they want to get on the ride then you have to get on with them too and pay the same amount of tickets they do which I think is not right and greedy. They should let the adults on for free with the little kid rides. The fair is supposed to be for the kids anyways no adult even wants to be paying money to ride a kiddie ride so thier kid can. Also the fair/carnival americana is expensive if you have multiple kids. The rides are too expensive, sometimes 5-6 dollars for 1 ride and the wristbands are $30 which is too expensive as well, especially if you have to get tickets on the side so you can go on the kiddie rides with your younger kids....

High school kids kept cutting in line, making everyone (including myself) wait 2 hours for one ride. It was really ridiculous. You have to pay 35 for the wristband to not ride the rides, I am confused. The ticket guy tried his best to keep up with the ones that were cutting (he sent them to the back of the line) but it was impossible for him to catch all of them! This is so rude and inconsiderate. Ruined the experience. Then on top of that when it started to clear out (around 12) they told me I couldn't ride anymore because the wristbands were no longer good...
