They have a big variety of great new knives and the folks there are nice. The service side is lacking though. I've brought a total of 7 folders there. I picked up the first 4 and got a refund because they never got done 2 weeks after I was told they'de be ready. I went back and bought a new knife which I had them sharpen only because I wasn't happy with the edge from manufacturer. With it I brought 2 more old ones for service. These 3 got done quickly but the blades were poorly sharpened. The 2 older knives still had surface rust along half the edge and the internals didn't get touched, they were never taken apart for cleaning. Was still charged full price for sharpening and cleaning.
Edit to respond to owner: When picking up the knives that did get serviced, the person I talked with was aware of the problems and pointed out that they didn't take apart or clean the internals of those knives and cited the difficulty to take them apart and sharpen the serrated portions of blades. The knives were factory benchmade models. After paying full price here, I cleaned them myself using a small multitool and qtip, and took them across town to be sharpened at a local tool/supply store which returned them in great shape after 2 days. I recommend way of knife as a place to purchase new, but there are several individuals and chain stores in the area which do a good job servicing blades and tools of all sizes in the timeline...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Guy's at Way of Knife & EDC Gear House continue to impress me. I just received this morning another knife that I sent in for some modifications. Primarily because I had tried to complete some mods myself that last just say, didn't take. Having already had a few other knives fixed up by these guys, I had little doubt that they could get my screwed up looking knife back to looking good again. A bit of an understatement really as this knife looks better now than it ever did in my opinion. I can't thank them enough for the excellent service they provided on this one. It looks fantastic and I will no longer be attempting to mod first send in second. lol. If you are on the fence about sending in a knife because you aren't sure of their skill level or what if something goes wrong and something gets damaged well don't. First of all, these guys are professionals first and foremost. They do excellent work, and they stand behind it. This was my 3rd or 4th knife that I had sent in for various work, and each one has been perfect. Honestly, the hardest part about sending in something in my opinion, is figuring out what you want them to do with it. There are just so many choices and so many different things these guys can do for you. Treat yourself. Get something modded to make it a one of a kind. You...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my 8" chef knife and my 4" asian pairing knife in to way of the knife exactly one week ago. After using my knives at work for a weeks worth of shifts I can say I am happy with the level of attention they were given. Seeing the knife report was helpful for me because I could see the chips and knicks in the blade of my chef knife, and then the smooth finish after the stropping was done. Maybe it'll be good for you to see too? Anyway, the last 2" to the heel on my chef knife are perfectly straight and then the blade curves to the tip. I am happy to say that before and after the same two inches are just as flat. This tells me that whatever he uses to grind the blade he keeps the current geometry and the new edge is very minimal, indicating he doesn't take a lot of material off. Overall Im really happy with my knives and the...
