Mount Emblem Cemetery — Local services in Addison Township

My father has been buried more than a year and still does not have a headstone. After misinformation or the lack of information provided to us by Nancy who was taking care of our arrangements I stand here feeling nothing more than sad and sorry. My mother and I both sat down with Al quite some time ago and were told things that would happen to make up for this and be done before his birthday (Jan. 15th) such as the headstone being set in place. When we sat down with Al the entire meeting was a disgrace. He had no idea the family he was talking to, the name of the person who passed, the dates of which they were brought into life and their unfortunate passing. The place marker they provide as a temporary stone had the wrong dates on it. After the first time discovering this and bringing it to their attention it was once again done incorrectly. There has been zero restitution for this issue at this point and a huge lack of communication. Jacqueline and Al took the time to help us find the right spot for our family plots. We have a long standing history with visiting the cemetery as a family and enjoy feeding the ducks/geese, the pond, windmill and liliac bushes. We were able to bury my mom facing the pond with the windmill behind her and the liliac bushes next to her. The compassion that was shown during our darkest days will never be forgotten. Not only did they find what we needed for my mom but our family will rest together as they found four plots in a row for us. They went above and beyond. Thank you for letting us cry and laugh but most of all for really listening and ensuring that the perfect spot was chosen.
