Went to a rock show, the pretty ones rockhounds dig out of the ground. Not a rock show you dance to, just to be clear. Nice selection of stones and rock specimens. Hot a huge show but a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. The show was put on by the St. Louis Rock Club. They put on 2 shows a year and have free activities for kids. Kids can pick from boxes of 'rough' (stones) that have only been picked out of the ground as in pick-axe broken up into smaller pieces as mineral specimens and sometimes washed off. They had 12 different types of minerals labeled in boxes. The kids there could pick one rock only of each of the 12 different types of minerals specimens. The club supplied recycled egg cartons. This was a free activity of the club for kids. After the kids picked their 12 mineral specimens. Instant first rock collection. One of my Grandfather's was a Geologist as a young kid he would explain to me properties of different rocks and what each of the stones were called. I loved going to rock shows with him. Anything that sparks an interest in the sciences for kids is a good afternoon. So keep your eye out for the next St. Louis...

The parking can be tight on volleyball nights, but I've never not found a spot. Pretty sure I've never even had to...
