I finally made it to APC after hearing so many excellent reviews on social media and was not disappointed whatsoever! They definitely live up to the hype ā™„ļø Service was outstanding: very helpful and friendly; they even brought me something delicious to nibble on while I waited for my pizza. Speaking of pizza, this is, hands-down, one of my absolute favorite St. Louis-style pies. Let’s start with that crust: just about every St. Louis pizza place churns out a terrible crust: too chewy, too bland, too burnt, too much cornmeal stuck to the bottom, too soft, too hard, soggy…YOU know what I’m talking about. Crust that’s merely a means of getting the toppings to your mouth, one step above chewing on a paper plate, an overlooked vital aspect of a truly great pizza. But at Affton Pizza Company? Best St. Louis thin crust I’ve ever eaten in over half a century on this planet. It was perfection. Crispy-crunchy without being hard and dry, strong enough to hold up to the toppings, so flavorful that it makes you really enjoy eating the edges. And they didn’t try to disguise a cardboard crust by adding lots of salt or seasoning like so many pizza joints do. APC’s crust was *almost* buttery, yet not so much that you’d think oh, it’s a butter crust (which I’m not too fond of as it distracts from the flavor of the toppings). This crust was stacked with toppings and it still added to the flavor of the pie. Honestly, I can’t convey in words how delicious this crust is! On to the toppings: I had a 14-inch create-your-own pie with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and black olives. Look at that pizza! Just LOOK AT IT! Believe it or not, I didn’t even order extra toppings, it just comes that loaded! By far, it has the largest standard topping portions of any St. Louis pizza I’ve ever had! Well, ok, I did ask for extra cheese, but honestly it didn’t even need it! Sausage with just enough fennel to give it that perfect kick of flavor without being overpowering, yet not enough to necessarily call it fennel sausage: simply perfect! Pepperoni had fantastic flavor as well, not that weird, grease-flavored reconstituted back bacon-tasting cheap stuff ubiquitous to most places. Onions were wonderful, not sharp like I’ve found all too often elsewhere. These were sliced, not diced, so it made picking up a square interesting at times. But if you aren’t a huge onion fan, ordering light onion might be the way to go. And those black olives! Soooo many!! I can’t tell you how excited I was to see how they don’t skimp on the olives! Real talk: I’m not sure what brand they use, but the black olives did have that faint metallic taste to them; that being said, it was still much less than at most places I’ve been, and it didn’t detract from the overall flavor profile. Mushrooms were thickly sliced and cooked, which is soooooo much better than throwing fresh mushrooms on a pizza because they just shrivel up and dry out so they’re chewy if thick sliced and like chewing on a paper sack when thin sliced. Let’s talk sauce: the perfect amount, and so delicious that I think I’ll order extra next time, even though I’m not an extra sauce kinda girl. It wasn’t overly seasoned or too oniony; just the perfect complement for the crust and toppings. Last, and definitely least important in my book, is the decor. It’s nothing fancy whatsoever but I don’t care when the pizza is good. Nice 80s music overhead, but not much to look at. I didn’t notice any decor related to their story, origin or owners, or any media interviews hanging anywhere which would have been quite nice to see, but I might have simply missed it because I was exhausted and hyper focused on PIZZA šŸ˜€ Overall takeaway from my visit: get yourself a pie from Affton Pizza Company NOW!! It’s seriously the most absolutely perfect St. Louis pizza around! They make the biggest name in St. Louis style pizza look like a frozen yellow-boxed Valu-Save dollar store pizza. Why have a Vienna Sausage when you can have Porterhouse?

Today I decided to check out @afftonpizzaco and it was amazing! I started off with the garlic bread topped off with a 3 cheese spread along with ham and pineapples. It was damn good. The bread also had the garlic butter spread taste underneath and it's a hearty helping even at the small size. Then my pizza came out. I ordered a double sausage and pineapple pizza. Same cheese mixture as the garlic bread. When I tell you I wish this place was a chain.... This food is what @imospizza wish it was. Don't get me wrong...I do enjoy an imos pizza from time to time but the provel cheese only tastes OK on their pizza. Not even their garlic bread taste right with that cheese. Affton Pizza does have a very extensive menu so if you are not in the mood for pizza, you can go with other items on the menu. I also like to add that they offer @fitzsrootbeer products as well. Overall the square beyond compare has been kicked out of their chair. Affton Pizza was out of sight! 10s across the board! #pizza #saintlouis #stlouis #foodie #aftonpizza #aftonpizzaco #food #allthatmsjazz #allthatmsjazzisme

I'm new to St. Louis style pizza. It's different from Ohio pizza for sure. I looked Affton pizza co up because everyone was saying how good it was.. the pizza was overcooked and thin yet hard to chew. Really greasy that's usually good in my book for pizza but this was a heavy grease I didn't care for it much. I had sticker shock on the price when I arrived to pick it up. A 16inch cheese pizza with pepperoni and bacon put us back 28.50. I ordered from the online menu that had 16inch pizza starting at 14$. That was wrong I was told. The wall menu had the starting price at 22$ huge difference and additional toppings online was priced at 2.50$ the wall menu in the restaurant was 2.90$. The paper menu had yet different pricing than this. I thought I was picking up a 20$ pizza not a 30$ pizza. I didn't really care for the square slices of overcooked dried out pizza. To much money for such a pizza. Don't think I'll return. Hopefully they get a current menu out with the correct pricing.

I'll start by saying this is the most painful negative review I've left.

First, the service was outstanding. I got there just as they opened and though their A/C was out and it was oppressively hot, the host/cashier was super friendly.and upbeat. Upon finding out it was my first visit, she made a recommendation on pizza.

This is where it went downhill. I ordered a large STL-style cheese & pepperoni against my better judgements- I usually get mozzarella or a mozz/provel blend. The pizza was virtually impossible to eat. At least while semi-fresh. Though I did the best I could at keeping it level- as directed- about 1/4 of the cheese and toppings ran off on the 5 min commute back from the restaurant. It was a gloopy mess. Most of the pieces stuck to the box somehow, even so fresh out of the oven. The crust was also very chewy, and not at all crispy.

Idk if their pizza needs to rest a bit before eating, if it was undercooked, prepared improperly, or what, but had I been dining in, I would have had to send it back, and I almost never do that. The actual flavor was quite good, so it's unfortunate it was so fundamentally flawed. The garlic cheesy bread was fantastic, however.

I had high hopes given I had seen so many positive reviews, but they missed the mark here. Maybe my pizza was a fluke, Idk. Again, 5 stars for service, so I'll just sum this up by saying check your pizza before leaving and be ultra careful...

Horrible manager. All i wanted was to order a couple pizzas on a Saturday night. This woman was yelling and screaming at kids working along with snapping at me and throwing suplies. Definitely won't be back after treatment like this.

They were very busy and high stress I'm sure but the yelling and screaming coming from the "manager" was unreal. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and she responded with "you can have me and that's it bro" and went back to cutting pizza. I waited for 45 minutes just for her to tell me that "I can't make the oven go faster" after an hour I did get my pizzas which were fantastic. Props to the cooks for making awesome food while being yelled at and dodging food service supplies.

Edit for 8/14 Returned tonight and was pleased to see nothing but nice and knowledgeable staff. I ordered a 5 meat and some toasted ravioli. Called in and the manager, Max told me it would be about 15 minutes and it was just that! I showed up and my food was ready just as I walked in. Max and I spoke for about 5 minutes and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice, knowledgeable and hard working he was. As for the pizza, just as good as last time and I'll absolutely be back. Customer service like this keeps me coming back and the food is just the cherry...
