For context, I'm a 16 handicap who golfs every other week at a nice public course on the east coast. My wife is Puerto Rican and we vacation in Isabela every year. You have to think about this course from a local perspective. Conditions on the island are rough, from both weather and economy perspectives. This is a public course in Puerto Rico. It is not sustainable to keep a public course in pristine condition that only costs $25 to walk. A few of the greens are in rough shape. The fairways are not exactly carpet. But the course is very playable, and the staff works hard to keep it that way. Today I had a great time golfing here. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The views along the coast are gorgeous. The horses and iguanas and the odd item you didn't expect to see is just Puerto Rico and is part of the charm. I don't know where else in the world you can golf on such a beautiful course right on the ocean for such a reasonable price. If you are expecting a U.S. private club-like experience, then you would be better off paying $250 a round to golf somewhere else...

Overall not a bad course but I do have multiple complaints… we got there and checked in and the person checking us in informed me that it was more expensive to make a tee time online then it was to just walk in and a play, I asked if I could get the cheaper rate and she said no even though the course was empty. There is also a twilight rate which wasn’t specified on the website, which is half priced. Secondly rental Clubs were listed at $35 bucks online which seemed reasonable but when we arrived I was informed that the $35 rental is old clubs and I needed to pay $60 for the new clubs (which wasn’t even a complete set, only 10 clubs) lastly, the quality of the course was alright but on hole 18 there was a massive crew fixing and repairing a green which made it impossible to play, I waited for 10 minutes for them to clear the green just to hit it into a pile of dirt in the...

JUST GOLFED HERE THIS IS THE ONLY REVIEW YOU NEED.

Paid 72 dollars to play during the week. This is one of the worst courses I have ever played. Everything is either dead or hardpan. There is no difference between fairway and rough it is just all patchy, dry, hard ground everywhere. Greens were in terrible condition as well and just weren’t grown in…ball is bouncing across greens and the same patchy grass randomly scattered throughout the green. Additionally there were entire holes under repair and temporary greens/tee boxes in certain areas so half the time you didn’t even know where you were or where u were supposed to go. A relative played the course last year and said that it was the same situation so in a years time the course was not repaired back to its original layout. I felt robbed leaving the course and I wouldn’t recommend...

There’s no course in PR that comes close to Punta Borinquen in the $80 price range. Club rental was $40, and we were provided a full set of TaylorMade clubs that were pretty much brand new. This course is stunning, well kept, and the greens are very nicely take care of. Almost every hole has unbelievable ocean views. It was 100 percent worth the 2 and a half hour drive to Aguadilla and you’ll catch some great views on that drive as well. Most importantly, the staff is amazing. Everyone is so kind and they made sure all our needs were met. A course like this in the states would be $100+, no question. If you love the sport and don’t care about the distance no matter where you’re staying on the island, this is the course to visit.
