Update - Let me just add to this since we moved into this home the casing between the living room an kitchen has bugged me cause it never sat right. We pulled the casing off to replace it with something nicer an of course to make it strait. What we found is really upsetting. Instead of fixing what they messed up they just rigged it. Now we are left fixing the issue the correct way. The home does not even line up. So many problems since day one. Let me say 1st the staff is friendly per my husband, however we bought our home after a week of living in the home the molding around the windows an Walls have started falling off, the paint is coming off the walls an the hvac does not work as it should, there are scratches on one cabinet door, We have siding that still has not been repaired as well as roof shingles. We are constantly getting the run around. We have contacted Aiken housing more then several times an we still have not received the paint an molding we were told was ordered, the people for the siding came out once said they would return an never did, the hvac company they use refuses to follow up on making repairs. If I had known it was this bad with this place would have never agreed to purchase a home. I am so disappointed in the lack of care that has been shown for a home that was purchases brand new. They need a return policy because I would sure return this place. The home was not worth what I paid, with the lack of care they provided. I should not have to be looking for repair companies only a few months after moving in when they knew about alot of the stuff from the begining. Worse experience of my life. It saddens me that they cannot follow through. Worse part is that I was so skeptical on purchasing a manufactured home an alot of my fears have come to pass.. then this morning another piece of molding came off in the bathroom hitting me in the head, it just keeps coming down.other items wrong as well that I have not even mentioned in this review some...
Read moreI had been doing business with Aiken Housing Center for approximately 4 months. I was purchasing a package deal where I got the land and home. The land I first looked at I found out the road was not county maintained. I am financing with USDA and they have strict regulations. Then the owner bought 10 acres of land to subdivide into 5 properties at 2 acres each. USDA would not finance 2 acres. So I asked the owner if he would sell me 1 acre to put a home on. He said yes. We put everything in writing and all parties signed the contract. I even went out and put ribbons around the trees I wanted to keep before they started clearing the land. After a few weeks the owner called me and told me that he could not sell me 1 acre because the property had to be sold in 2 acre lots according to the zoning ordinances. The owner said he would sell me the 2 acres. Which of course, I could not do. I went to the zoning office to check the requirements. The land was zoned to be sold as 2 acres lots in May of 2013, and the owner purchased the land on March 28th, 2019. It is hard for me to believe the owner bought 10 acres of land to sell and did not know the zoning requirements prior to purchasing and offering to sell me one acre. I have wasted so much time with Aiken Housing. I was told not to do business with them and I should have listened to what people told me. I thought because I was using USDA that I would be safe. I even talked with the sales rep, who is the owner's son, regarding my concerns while standing on the land that was to be mine. He assured me everything would be fine and that I would have his number and the owner's number if I needed anything. Who do I call now? I am without land and without a home. I would never recommend doing business with Aiken Housing Center under ANY circumstances EVER! I didnât want to even rate them with 1 star, but had to in order to get...
Read moreAiken housing center didn't help me one bit and it's been really hard trying to get them on the phone, its basically been a run around from day one because to them my money is funny and not good enough...First they hook you up with cake credit, all cake credit did is take money, 80 bucks a month for four months, after four months they got one item removed from my credit, a old hospital emergency room bill and they act like they have done something big by doing that. I actually paid off old medical Bills and paid down my two credit cards, on my own, totaling more then, 1783 bucks, which actually got my credit scores up by 190 points.. Mr Duncan, who works at the Aiken housing center gives you the runaround from day one, he is never there at the office, so you cant get any questions about your credit application answered. He sent my application to Country Place Mortgage and no place else, why? They denied me because of 5 late mortgage payments and a foreclosure which is a lie, I never had a foreclosure on my property and the late payments are from more then eighteen years ago. . Update December 21 2018 I have obtained a 90000 thousand dollar low interest FHA loan through another bank owned mortgage lender, I have my pre-qualification loan letter and along with my realtor we will start looking for my new house after the New Year and yes I am buying a house not a mobile home...Aiken Housing center did nothing for me and the loan officer from Country Place mortgage along with the Aiken housing center actually discriminated against because of low income and basically lied.... I reported both of these companies to the better business bureau and to the FHA government office along with a couple more complaints to other agencies... Dont give up people, if I can do it, you can do it, also.. it is possible with low income to purchase a home for you and...
