The professionals at the SPCA Vet Care Center took great care of my cat while she was getting spayed. They had easy-to-find patient forms online that I was able to print and fill out ahead of time. My only complaint is I had an appointment for 8 am drop off. Apparently, the way they do it, everyone is scheduled for 8 am. I was the 2nd to arrive in the parking lot at 7:40. I didn't receive instructions other than it was curb side drop off. I actually thought I would pull up through a car line and the staff would come up to my car to pick up my paperwork and my cat. When I realized everyone else was getting out and walking to the front of the building, I got out as well. There were about 10 other pets and their owners there at the same time we were. When the very friendly receptionist came out she asked who was there 1st, other people started saying they were. I guess they meant they were the 1st to get in line. I felt the process was a bit unorganized. I feel like more detailed instructions given to first time visitors would be helpful and could alleviate unnecessary anxiety since a lot of pet parents are already anxious due to their pet's surgery. I did receive a pre-op phone call but it contained no information about the drop-off procedure. The only information I received concerning the drop-off procedure was it would take about 30 minutes. Which it did. Overall we had a good experience and the lady that brought my cat out after surgery was friendly. As a side note to other pet owners, I understand you love your dog and you know it would never hurt anyone, but some people, such as myself, are afraid of dogs. Not just big dogs, all dogs. It would be sincerely appreciated if you don't let your dog approach strangers. I mean this with all sincerity and with no ill intent. I had the added anxiety of being sniffed by a pit bull while her owner talked to another pet owner. The dog did nothing more than sniff my leg (for what felt like a long time), but it made me uncomfortable given my fear of dogs. I had to ask the owner to pull her away from me.

I was just at the SPCA @4:00pm to give them a kitten that came up to my home, my brother is allergic and we can not keep. After being denied at the Aiken Animal Shelter as they are full, SPCA was last resort, she denied and said since I live out of the zone they can’t take it. The Aiken Animal Shleter is 10 minutes away from me and SPCA is 9 minutes exact minutes I don’t know how. I told a lady in the front desk by the left when you come in, I said “what do I do then, can you call the other shelter so they can take it, I can’t keep it”,She said “im sorry, there is nothing I can do, if they told you no, I can’t do nothing about that and we can’t take it sorry”, I said “then what do I do?”, and she said “I don’t know, sorry”. No options, no help she could give me, nothing. Clearly they want the kitten to be in the woods and fend for himself, when my brother is allergic. But for the wealthier communities they do keep the doors open. For East Gate community when they are 17 mins away from them . What choice do I have. Also below is proof I have gone ther in the past to the vet there as well

We’ve been looking to rescue an older dog (we wanted a companion for our 8-year-old rescue Daisy), but we had challenges trying to adopt through a rescue group in Aiken who doesn’t approve of invisible/electric fencing as opposed to a structural fence. Luckily we came across SPCA, and we drove there today from Augusta to find a good match for our girl. The facility is so nice, and it was immediately apparent that all the animals are very well cared for. We worked with Seth, who was really kind and very helpful. We went through and selected a few dogs that we wanted to have Daisy meet, and he brought them all out one-by-one so they could interact together, outside in a fenced-in area. We finally found a perfect match, a lovable little two-year-old low rider who will be coming home with us on Monday. Thank you so much, Seth, for your helpfulness and patience today. We’re so excited about the new addition to our family and will highly recommend SPCA to anyone who is looking to adopt!

I was barely talked to the first time I went in they overlooked me and made me feel like I was a burden. After asking about a few dogs and making it clear to the staff that I was there to find a dog and I didn't drive 45 minutes from my house to leave empty handed they suggested a dog to me that was at their sponsored thrift store I drove out and met her and fell in love with her. I was so excited to take her home and love her and give her a great life. Unfortunately she got away from me as the spca failed to provide me with a collar or a leash for her though they told me she had one. She ran out of the door when I opened it and she was a hound so she was extremely fast. I was crushed after I spent the evening with two of my neighbors trying to chase her and she disappeared. We chased her until the sun went down and we couldn't see anymore. I called her microchip number and the spca and reported her missing I posted on Facebook and Craigslist I made flyers that I posted everywhere I even paid extra money to have those advertised in the newspaper in addition to leaving out food everyday for her and a blanket with her smell I finally got up enough money to get a dog trap only to receive a message that day on Facebook from someone who has seen my post saying they saw a dog on the highway that looked just like her and I went to check the body hoping since it was miles away that it wouldn't be her but it was. I called the spca the first chance I had and informed them of what happened asking if I could adopt from them again. It clearly says right in the paperwork that you sign that you only have to wait a year to adopt from them again if you give an animal back or you mistreat an animal. Their response? That I have to wait a year. What happened to me could easily have happened to anyone and I cried from the day she left to the day I found her body and then I cried even more when I saw her. Don't adopt from them unless you want to be treated rudely overlooked not given the tools you need in order to keep your dog from running off and then blamed if that should happen. Oh did I mention I had to drive to spca be told that my cat needed a rabies shot drive back home get my cat bring her back there and then get her shot and try to get my 3 month old baby in the car along with the cat and the dog? I even donated to them. Bottom line it seems to me that they are rude and money hungry and if you're interested in a dog they only have a handful out to show at a time but they have 1,000 cats. I'd go...

I took my calico in for a spay. I figured it was a routine thing, she will be fixed and taken care of. When I arrived to pick her up first the lady that was part of the spay/neuter team (old lady) walked up and handed me the carrier with my cat and lets go of it before I even attempted to grab the carrier so it falls on the floor. I looked at her and said why would you let go with assuring I had it? She insisted it was my fault and proceeded to blame me, instead of apologizing. I go to pick the carrier up off the floor, go to look inside and my cat is terrified. Huddled up in the back of the carrier. I took it as maybe she got spooked from the carrier dropping. I inspected closer and noticed the training pad she was sitting on was soaked in urine. Mind you she had a fresh incision on her stomach region. So I go to ask the lady why they didn’t change her pad and she said they she is only allowed one. So you’re to tell me my cat had been laying in a piss-soaked pad for who knows how long? Are you serious? So I asked again and demanded for a new pad and the lady started being dismissive. She started acting like she didn’t hear me. Thirdly they went and charged me extra bc she was heat, when she wasn’t at the age to be in heat. I explained to her that she hasn’t been in heat and asked to show me proof on how they knew she was in heat and told me it’s not my business how they record and do their tests. Since then my cat has been skittish and in constant fear of people. I went to another vet to get a second opinion and was informed that something must’ve happened to her while being fixed. So I’m thinking she was mistreated in some kind of way and now I have a cat that needs to be on anxiety medication because of what they did to her. I don’t how the hiring process is but maybe try to make sure you have qualified personnel that actually are animal people. I will never bring any animal to this place again knowing now how they treated my cat. Nothing that these people say will make me think otherwise, make sure you’re front desk staff learn confidentiality bc I can hear all the tea about other people who have come in to adopt. They talk poorly, are on their phone talking about their personal life which shows no level of professionalism. Show no respect and complain about doing the jobs they were hired to do. Also if they have vets that are fresh out from school maybe they need to make sure the vets are truly trained, and qualified to...

If you plan on going here for simple things like a rabies shot, I suggest you go somewhere else. I got to the clinic at 12:30 to try and beat the crowd or at least be somewhat at the front of the line when the doors opened at 1pm. Unfortunately, they are no Chick-fil-A when it comes to organizing and functionality. There were no lines to help keep tabs on who was to be seen next. The woman at the front desk would scream out "next" and hand you a clip board to fill out. However, telling them you're next and filling out the paper work meant nothing in terms of being seen prior to the ones who showed up after you. For example,, I was told to sit in my car and they would call me when it was time to be seen. However, I saw people come and go who came in an hour after I did! After sitting in the car for 2 hours and never being called , I figured they forgot about me so I got my dog and went up the where the employees were. They acted like they never seen me before. I told them my name and my dog's name and that I was simply here for a rabies shot. Then they informed me that they can not simply give me a rabies shot. That I had to do a wellness check and get other various vaccines since: 1.) the vet I used was not in office today to confirm via phone that my dog was up to date and 2.) I did not have papers to prove my dog was up-to-date at that time. So I was annoyed with being bullied into paying for services that were not needed or requested. Once we discussed and agreed on what all was needing to be done in order for my dog to get the rabies shot, they went back inside and said they would send someone outside to get my dog when they're ready. I waited another hour!!! They finally came and got my dog and took her away for about 10 minutes to get her shots and then brought her back out to me. I asked the vet tech what I needed to do to go about paying for the services? She said she would send someone out to give me papers of proof for today's shots and to write a receipt. .....no joke, I waited another 30 minutes just to pay!!! It's crazy!!! If I weren't an honest person, I would have left. I've never had to wait in line for 3.5 hours just to get shots!!! If they can't do better than this, then they need just do visits by appointment only!!! Note:) with all this being said, these people will not only waste your time but will nickle and dime the hell out of you. Sometimes it pays to just wait to be seen by your actual...
