Bear Creek Weir — Local services in Alaska

This is a great place to view salmon. The park ranger at Exit glacier told us to come to this place to view salmon. In July this is the season for sock eye salmon.

We followed the Google maps directions and it took us to just the right place. It's easy to miss the place but keep an eye for Bear creek weir sign. This sign is outside a small wood cabin. On the left side of that cabin there is a stream where salmon flows.

It was such an experience to watch them - running against the water flow and jumping at the point where water level changes to get to the next level. Nature is truly magical.

Make sure you do check if this is salmon season at this place...

We saw many fish desperately leaping upward. Even though this was a dead end for them when we visited , we could feel the struggle and tragic beauty of life.
