I found Outbound Heli Adventures through Joe over at Chugach Peaks Photography and was immediately captivated by their instagram and website photos. I spoke to my fiancée and contacted them right away! Even during the initial inquiry phase, Bridget Kelly was very patient in helping me and my significant other navigate our destination helicopter wedding planning at Knik Glacier. We spent over an hour chatting about various topics pertaining to the intricacies of having an adventure wedding. After chatting a few times, we decided to proceed with the booking and do not regret it at all! Our timeline was tight, about 6 weeks, and we spoke multiple times on the phone, texted and emailed. Bridget is a very sweet person and great business owner who prides herself with quick responses, transparency and attention to detail. On the day of, we met Bridget and our pilot, Jeremy who would be taking us to the beautiful destinations for our 5 hour helicopter wedding.
Joe recommended the 5 landings that we explored and each location was so amazing. Jeremy told us many fun stories about his life, living in Alaska and what steps he took to become a pilot. Jeremy is so kind-hearted and attentive. Jeremy went above and beyond to help us with everything! He took photos during the wedding ceremony while Joe was ordaining, held our jackets, helped us with the snow spikes, set things up, put things away, loaded up the helicopter after each landing, held the door open, helped us so we don't slip on the glacier, did a fly-by for the photos, etc. Hi flying skills are amazing too! We even went in close to and between the glaciers. My husband and I felt that we could almost touch them! He made us feel very comfortable and important. Talk about great customer service! We just received 1k photos less than one month after our wedding and they are AMAZING. We are very happy with the final product! I would highly recommend Outbound Heli; specifically; Jeremy, to be a part of your special day.
If you are doing a heli wedding, do not forget to tip the pilot and offer to buy the photographer and pilot a lunch! They really appreciated the kind gesture and went above and beyond with everything. We even shared our wedding cake which was so much fun 😊 It truly was a day...
Read moreAfter having our wedding canceled twice during the pandemic, my fiancé and I recently decided to abandon our plans and elope to Alaska. We hired Joe Connolly of Chugach Peaks Photography (highly recommended) to officiate/photograph the wedding. Joe works with various companies in Alaska to charter helicopters for these types of events, but we were lucky enough to have Outbound Heli with us for our big day. Having never been to Alaska, it was somewhat nerve-racking to think about spending seven hours flying from one remote wilderness location to the next. But our pilot Chris immediately calmed those nerves. In terms of his expertise, Chris is not only a helicopter pilot, but also a former helicopter mechanic in the Marine Corps. He was in complete command of the aircraft and made smooth landings in seemingly impossible places. Even apart from his flying, Chris made us feel completely safe the entire day, standing lookout for wildlife while we posed for wedding photos and carrying a “throw bag” in case one of us slipped into a blue glacial pool—a safety precaution our experienced photographer commented he’d never seen another helicopter pilot take. Equally important on our wedding day, Chris was warm, patient, and a perfect gentleman. He did everything from help install microspikes on our shoes before slippery walks to take pictures during our ceremony when Joe performed his officiating duties. Far from being disengaged, Chris was by our side the whole seven-hour day and never even looked at his watch. When we booked our trip, we had no expectations for our helicopter pilot other than to safely take us from Point A to Point B. But now it’s hard to imagine that day without Chris, who was an important part of our memories. We’d be remiss not to also mention Bridget, who handled the administrative side of our trip, gave us our all-important safety briefing, and was lovely in every way from the moment we met her. If you’re looking for more than to simply hitch a ride, and want real, experienced, engaged travel guides, use Outbound Heli. If we ever return to Alaska, we would not call...
Read moreWe had a great time with Outbound Heli Adventures! We are a family of 4 in which the kids are 12 and 14. It was the first helicopter fight for my kids and husband.
Bridget and Chris are both wonderful. Bridget warmly greeted us and got a feel for our group right away. My husband and son were a bit hesitant about the flight, but she put them at ease quickly.
Chris was an amazing pilot. Not only was he great with us, he has experience as an instructor which shows he knows his stuff! My husband commented several times afterwards how smoothly he landed and took off, even on the glacier.
The glacier fight was beautiful and you could tell that Chris was excited to show us a new lake that he had first seen 4 days prior. As the glaciers are constantly changing, we were truly lucky to see such an amazing sight.
From the air, we were able to see moose, black bear and Dall sheep. Chris also chatted about how the ATV riders do their tours and hunting season that was soon to start.
Once we returned, Bridget was glad to see that we all enjoyed ourselves. She was gracious enough to suggest a couple of places for lunch and a hike to go on for the view. Thanks for planning the rest of our day for us, Bridget!
All in all, I would highly suggest Outbound Heli Adventures! They are knowledgable, friendly and highly experienced... Just drive slowly to their place. The neighbors...
