Me and my family have been to Palmer golf course many times over the past couple of years, However today with one of those days that was not such a good experience. I had scheduled a tee time for 1240 for me and my three sons. The guy at the front desk started off being rude right from the start to me, and then when my boys came in one by one to pay, he told them each how they were late and needed to hurry up and get out on the course. The boys showed up at about 12:30 PM. Still gives them enough time. After we get going and we are on hole one, the course marshal comes driving up to me and one of my sons really quickly, like it’s an emergency or something only to tell my son that he wasn’t allowed to play because he did not have a set of clubs. Granite my son did not have a set of clubs, he was using mine plus his brothers. The point was he’s played that course more than one time without clubs and I’ve seen other players on the course without a set of clubs. I felt disrespected and told that I had to go back to the clubhouse so that we can rent a set of clubs for my son
We did go to the clubhouse and soon as we got to the clubhouse the lady who was working inside the clubhouse was already outside waiting on us- telling us that it was no big deal, that it was a misunderstanding and that we were holding up people was the problem, which I don’t think we were doing either. Anyway she told us don’t worry about it and keep playing. We continued to play and completed 16 holes of golf.
I was going to go into the clubhouse and complain, however, I decided not to. But I decided to just put this out there because of how we felt that we were treated in this volatile time with racial tensions in the World and especially the Palmer community. Me and my family have lived in this community for over 30 years and all of our boys have graduated from Palmer High.
Our business (Daybreak Inc) also contributes and participates, every year to the Palmer golf course tournament that happens in June or July. So I just want to be to be treated like everyone...
Read moreHad a horrible experience here today and won’t be returning. We secured a tee time for four players, rented one set of clubs, carts and bought beer. Overall, spent a ton of money. The course marshal, for some reason, immediately honed in on our group and stalked and harassed us for the first 8 holes, complaining that we weren’t moving fast enough even though we were moving at a very quick pace. He then got loud and aggressive when I relented that we were moving at a perfectly fine pace and that we didn’t appreciate his demeanor. He continued to rush our group because he was so concerned about impressing the group behind us even though we are paying customers just as much as they are. He complained that we weren’t playing best ball, but when I asked him if the group behind us was playing best ball, he said no. I should reiterate that we were not holding anyone up the whole time. He then threatened to have the course superintendent throw us off the course; to which I replied “then I can be offered a refund” and he stated that we already played 11 holes so we wouldn’t get a refund.
Overall, the marshal made this experience incredibly frustrating and unenjoyable. I’ve never been rushed so rudely in my life at any...
Read moreThe man running the front desk needs a lesson in customer service. When I arrived he told me that I needed to show up 15 minutes before my tee time, or he would cancel it. I've golfed at over 25 courses in my life, most more upscale than Palmer golf course. Never in my life have I ever heard that a person needs to show up 15 minutes before their scheduled tee time or it will be canceled. If that's your policy, mention it to the caller so they know beforehand instead of just assuming they know. I've also never golfed at a course where hole 9 is not by the clubhouse, it's the furthest or second furthest hole from the clubhouse. If you are only playing 9, and walking, you have to figure out a route to get back to the clubhouse, which usually involves walking in the line of other people playing or being in a blind spot of people that have no idea you are there. The course was in good condition for being the beginning of April, that's about the only positive. I'll...
