I always go to this DMV. I live in Lynchburg and don’t mind the drive, because Lynchburg DMV even Bedford’s DMV!!!- are ALWAYS SUPER BUSY!! Bedford at least you can get up to the desk in a decent amount of time to get your place in line # ticket, then sit down but it’s a good wait… But? Lynchburg is horrible because at times there is a LOOONG line wrapped around the building inside (and one time I went there it was wrapped ALL the way around inside AND ALSO made its way OUTSIDE), then once you FINALLY get up to the counter to get your place in line ticket then you sit for what seems like FOREVER. Firstly, I canNOT stand and wait THAT LONG for place in line to do my business it kills my back, and secondly I hate sitting for that long around SO MANY people because I have severe panic and anxiety and social anxiety disorder. Just can’t do it….

Altavista Longest I’ve ever waited was maybe 30-ish mins tops. That’s even during Covid-Pre Covid.. After Covid…

And if you make an appointment you get seen and get your business down even QUICKER.

So yah, I’ll take that drive up to Altavista DMV any day!! lol.

Also to add, the inside is smaller than all the other surrounding DMVs too, so it helps my anxiety because there’s not like a MILLION people...

I went to this DMV to get the new license. The man at window 1 said I needed my marriage license, after i came back in to ask about if i could get the regular License he then said I could pay $14 and they could pull it up they couldnt so I drove back to lynchburg and got the marrage license and paid $14 again since i had the marrage license but that was not what they wanted They looked in the computer system twice and said they couldn't pull up the info and I had a copy of it stating that we got our license in Bedford county. I called Bedford county court when I left DMV and they could pull it up right away. The lady told me that the DMVs computer doesn't show all the information. I paid 24 dollars for nothing and wasted a whole day for nothing. I tried to call the DMV back and could never get anyone to answer the phone. A whole day wasted trying to...

Absolutely horrendous!! Customer Service is nonexistent, there is NONE! I was treated like scum.I let it go until the lady at the counter fired off on the elderly man who was waiting behind me, it was clear he was a proud veteran by his ball cap and shirt! The man asked a question and she smarted off and spoke to him like trash, so I butted in to ask her, her name for her to respond with her last name and the response of she’s the assistant manager!! OH MY!! Well there’s the problem when your management has no respect for anyone not even an elderly person a veteran at that what can you really expect!! Sad Story DO...
