Just when I thought my faith in humanity had gotten better. I took my son to this hospital after having a seizure. They had to take blood. This man named Nick came to do it.I was concerned as to who he was because he didn't have a name tag on. He seemed nice at 1st. He proceeded to draw his blood. Mind you he didn't have on any gloves. And obviously had a head cold. He had a runny snotty nose sniffing back to back. I wanted him to just blow his nose! He put the tourniquet on my son's arm. He didn't wipe the area with alcohol. He stuck the needle in and out about 5 or 6 times. Just moving it around inside his skin. My son was out of it. That last time he pushed it in. My son hollered out. Nick says oh that hurts? I'm like really? Then Nick wiped his nose with his bare hand and tried to finish. I said try the other arm. With hopes that he would wash his hands. He went on to say that he has been doing this for 15years. So I asked what the problem was. I'm like usually after 2 stick minimum. You got to the back of the hand. So he went to the other arm. Nick got a towel and placed it on his leg. He laid my son's arm on it. Because he was crooked on the bed. There was no room on that side to lay his arm Again no alcohol wipe to clean the area. No gloves. By this time a nurse came in. She gave him this look like what are your doing or why are you in here. So he took out the needle. My son's arm was bleeding. He took the towel to wipe the blood off. Nick Then took the towel and wiped his nose. Turnt the towel around and put it back on my son's arm. I lost it! I went straight to the nurse's desk. Told them what happened. And asked for a supervisor. Madelyn and Cory came in and spoke to me. Now I don't know the proper protocol. But when I left. The only thing I saw was that they made him put on a badge. Because you didn't know if he was part of the medical team or the janitor. I felt that he should of been sent home until they investigated the situation. But Nick was in and out of patients rooms. With the same snotty nose. Right there should of been a cause enough to wear a mask! I felt let down. Like they didn't care. It was on to the next patient. With all that being said. Thank you, Nurse Wanda and the Lady Dr ( Im sorry I don't remember your name ) for taking care of my son. They were very nice...
Read moreI went in to Andalusia Health on March the 17th 2025 for a routine mammogram on th 19th I was called back for a diagnostic mammogram. On the 31st I went in for the diagnostic mammogram. At this point I asked what specific concern I was called n for as all they would tell me on the phone was there was an abnormality. I was told they were concerned about some calcification in my left breast (left breast cancer is typically more aggressive) and that I would know on that day what my diagnosis was. After the mammogram I was asked to wait while my results were sent to Tuscaloosa as they do not have an in-house radiologist to diagnosis anything. At this point I began to question why I was being called for a diagnostic test at a hospital that has no one to diagnosis but I continued to wait. After about 5 minutes the technician came back out and told me they were no longer worried about the calcification that they were fine but that they were now concerned about a large cyst in that same breast and wanted to do an ultra sound. I waited about 15 more minutes and was called n for an ultra sound after a good 30 mins of being poked in my breast with the ultra sound wand the technician had finally gotten a cyst that had given me no pior trouble to hurt so I told him to quit. He said they'd let me know in a day r two I told him I had been assured by the technician that done my mammogram that I would know something that day he said ok hang out a minute. I waited maybe 10 minutes he came back and said mam u r fine u can go. On April the 2nd I received a call from my gynecologist, Mary Ellen Shellhouse saying I needed a biopsy as they were worried about the calcification. She in turn sent me to Dr. Ashton Wells for the biopsy. So on the 3rd I go to Dr Wells for him to explain to me he doesnt have the appropriate equipment to do said biopsy. Today is the 4th & as of this moment I have no idea when, where, or how to get the necessary medical attention I need. I have repeatedly called Andalusia Health to resolve this matter and have been transferred to voice mails & still have no spoken to anyone concerning this matter. I 10 out of 10 do not recommend this hospital or any part of this...

On March 16th, I had out patient orthoscopic knee surgery on my torn meniscus at Andalusia Health , our local Hospital. Here’s my experience . My wife drove me to the hospital at 7:15 am where we encountered plenty of free parking. We easily walked to admitting where we waited in line for 3 minutes and dealt with a courteous English speaking lady that checked me in quickly. Then a volunteer escorted us to a clean, modern single room where a nurse was waiting. My gown was on the bed and the nurse told us what to expect and left. In the next hour I was visited by 3 more staff members and my Doctor. They proceeded to go over their part in my procedure and check to make sure I’m comfortable and informed. Then my nurse comes in , checks my vitals and hooks up my IV. I lay on the bed for around 30 minutes and staff wheel me to the OR. After the procedure, I wake up feeling groggy but minimum discomfort. I’m wheeled back to my room where a snack tray and beverages are waiting. All staff members come by to check on me, and when I feel ready, they start discharge procedures. From the time I say I’m ready to leave, discharge takes 30 minutes till I’m out the door. Andalusia Health was by far the nicest most efficient hospital I’ve ever encountered. No crowds , no attitude, no parking issues, no having to beg someone to give you information, and no getting lost in the hospital maze. Hospital staff actually answers the phone and can answer questions. Just another reason I love Andalusia. But if you like rudeness, confusion, inefficiency, and being lost in the medical machine, don’t come to Andalusia Health, because that’s not who they are . ...
