On July 4th 2014 before I was to experience homelessness for a while of over 4 years I was asked to do the national anthem at the Anderson speedway in Anderson Indiana they said there was roughly about 4,000 to 5,000 people in attendance as they had me sing on the track! So they gave me a cordless mic I did a quick little prayer asking God to help me get through this because I'd never sang in front of that many people before! That video is now on YouTube I found out! And the next day July 5th wqme 98.7fm was broadcasting there as well and they asked me to sing on their program! And I did and I met a lot of cool people including the Indy men's choir out of Indianapolis Indiana and the Dixon Todd group out of Alabama I believe! It was something else! As we all got our turn to sing on the radio! August 1st 2014 before my birthday I was going to be experiencing long-term homelessness for the first time in my life! As my job went down because my vehicle went down and then I lost my apartment! But God was with me the whole time if I just trusted him and here I am today in Boston alive and well not only as a book author but a songwriter on YouTube all by the grace...
Read moreWell, I thought this would never happen, but we were a little disappointed in the Figure 8 races tonight. Not because of the drivers, they did great, but because of a lack of organization and continuity by the Raceway Management Team. The PA system did not work half the time. No one could hear the opening comments/prayer. One Race had to be Red Flagged a couple times before it started because drivers were not aware that parade laps precluded the start. VERY confusing. During the Trailer Figure 8, half the cars/trucks/trailers pulled off the side of the track and just quit racing, leaving only a few to finish, and then someone else pulled into the Winner's Circle when another car was given the checkered flag. It was just a nightmare confusing mess. Someone of great importance to Speedway must have been on Vacation. Also a stupid hotdog eating contest between a few drivers that took way to long, wasting at least a half hour. The Trailer Race was WAAAY to short and what was the deal with over half the drivers quitting during the race. Never seen this before at Anderson Raceway. Very disappointed with how the Races were...
Read moreI have been going to this facility for 52 years, the past 15 years it just seems to get progressively worse. Drunks harassing people, racing families fighting, drivers being arrested, overpriced food and drinks. It is unfortunate because I grew up at that track every Saturday night for years. The Fabulous Figure 8 has turned into a race with 6 cars...Sad situation for the track that brought us the ASA.. They need to limit the schedule, get car counts up and be more family friendly.. They went from having spectacular shows every week to just 3 per year. The Little 500, The Redbud 300, and their July 4th show is always good. Other than that, it has become a sad waste of money.. I will always have the memories from the past of what a great place it once was. I think I will now try a different venue for my racing entertainment.. Indy Speedrome is an hour drive that I will be making on my Saturday nights. Nothing tops Winchester Speedway, but they have cut way back.. That is where the Saturday shows should happen.. 15 to 20 years ago I would have rated this a...
