Been a couple months since the first and last time I visited paws. (Detailed) We had the sweetest grey baby kitty whom was in need of care. An emergency if you will. Something had happened to her front leg which at first we thought was a sprain but later realized it was an infection of some sort. It got worse quickly as we were saving up for a vet visit. We were worried about time and talked to a few friends about it seeing if we could find a quicker solution and that's when we heard about paws. They had helped their dog for free. So we took our babygirl up there and they took her in and said she should be fine. We gave our email for contact reasons but they never answered back. (One girl slipped up it seemed, and admitted that she read them) Which means that they intentionally don't respond. No updates. Never answered the phone. Phone said to email them yet they never answered that. After a bit of not hearing anything and worrying especially after reading a review stating that this girl didn't hear back about her kitten until one day they finally called. Only to tell her that her cat was dead. We finally went up there just for them to say there more than likely gonna have to amputate her leg. That was the last time I got to see her, hear her sweet meow, and look into her eyes letting her hear me say "I love you" just one more time before having to go. She was sooo happy to see me. It was the most precious thing. I knew she wanted to come home more than anything. The last photo taken of her was of me and her cuddling the night before we took her up there. After that, days pass and on our anniversary we finally got a call from paws. Stating that our cat was dead. In that moment my heart dropped. I knew I should have listened to my gut feeling. Broke down for weeks. They said she died shortly after surgery. Apparently sometime in the middle of the night. Found her like that during the day. Keep in mind they told us at the beginning that they had to spay her before anything. So already she had surgery. To have a whole limb removed after? Her body couldn't handle that much loss. Also had to sign a consent paper so if anything were to happenen they wouldn't be at fault or get sued. Didn't expect what happened though. The people there gave us a careless vibe. We'd observe and see that it wasn't just us sensing this. They didn't even mention any of the services that the cremation place offered so we called and put an order in for paw prints and stuff. Almost missed that. Not to mention they wouldn't let us see her one last time before being sent off for cremation. Towards the end the main lady came up to us and tried guilt tripping us into donating "in our kittens memory". She really tried using our pain and loss for money. I noticed that's all they care about it seems. Seemed like she was rushing it too. I would be thankful for the time and antibiotics that was for her. In the moment I truly was. But in the end its hard to be thankful for the lack of communication and for something that went so wrong. Only 1 lady there was kind, understanding and sympathetic. She helped me through it. And by the looks of it, it seemed she didn't get noticed or get credit for probably being the best employee there. Incredibly thankful for her kind soul. I can't begin to explain the anger I felt leaving that place. I still feel it. Even now I still can't help but to feel as if she possibly felt like I had abandoned her to all that. To that place. And for what?... I just wanted our baby to be okay and to be able to come home. But all I got was an urn.

First impression is broken trust. Never going back and I'll make sure everyone I know including social media (1K Instagram & 43K Tiktok) doesn't make the same mistake I did. Take your babys to a REAL...

I will never go back two paws they were rude and the girl came out and did the food intake went back in an another girl came out and was rude as well telling me I lied about one extra cat that was on my property that I rented and she would not let me explain my side of the store and keep interrupting me and would not let me speak and explain about my situation with the extra cat and she wanted me to hold my dog up in the car when I was getting help with food and she set me an appointment for the dog and cat to be nuddered and she wants us there in the morning at 8 am April 22 2024 cause she said if I don't show up they will not help me no more and gave me this flyer and the bottom of the flyer said if you as a customer are rude to the employee at paws they will refuse to help you and the girl I didn't get her name or the other girls name and i have been trying too reach. Out to paws in Anderson SC.but no help at all my pets are vaccinated since 3 years ago and this kitten was here when I moved in and I called a lot of vets in the upstate and they told me not to take these animals back to get nuddered so please be ware of what your situation is at paws in Anderson SC I wish that they had better staff working there I am a believer that God put us in charge of taken care of these animals it hard when you get no help on low income cause people that do take care of there pets should be treated like family instead of disrespecting the clients .plus my dog has facial problems and the kitten has respiratory problems and they steel want me to bring them in and ive call animal control and they were no help either so I am not going back to get help with my pets i will have to beat the system and just know they cut my cats ear hafe off as well saying if he ever escapes they know not to pick him back up to have him neutered. Do your home work people before you adopt a pet from any were you get the pet from just know if I don't show up with no ride there tomorrow cause I am on foot maybe they will see my review and know this is not my fault.my mom and boyfriend was with me twice and they were rude then and when I took my old cat stripes they neutered him and cut his ear in have on his right ear of his body I love my pets but I will take them somewhere else in the upstate. To get...

On May 12, 2015, I, a 31 year old black/white/Cherokee male, took a friend to this shelter to drop off a dog at around 12:40pm. A black male employee was speaking with a black male in a pick-up truck. I asked if I could go around them but they informed me that it was a line and a 20 minute wait until re-opening at 1pm. The pick up truck had 2 dogs in the back . My friend and I were in a hurry to get to Columbia, SC, so I asked "May we put this dog in the back of the pick up with those 2 dogs?" The men said it was OK, but they are pit bulls. I told them that the dog I had was Dalmatian/pit bull. Again, they said it was ok to leave the dog and I did so with no protest from the 2 men.

Before I left the facility property, I pulled over to use my phone. An Anderson County Sheriff with blue lights on pulled up and asked me if I'd just dropped off a dog in the back of the pick up truck. I said "Yes. They said it was OK." The sheriff said that the man in the pick up didn't give me permission to leave the dog and ordered me to return to the truck and I complied in my car. The Sheriff requested my license, registration, and proof of insurance and ordered me to keep my hands in the air for a while. The officer ran my information for warrants and prior criminal record, which I have none. The officer told me "You're going to jail today." and asked me if I can afford to pay a $1,200 fine. I told him yes. The officer treated me like I was a criminal and humiliated me. He was belligerent and disrespectful until I told him that I'm a U.S. Navy veteran. He asked "Were you a boatswain's mate?", a relatively unskilled job. I replied, "No. CTI, cryptologic technician interpretive, an Arabic linguist." He called me a boatswain's mate another 2 times before the ordeal was over.

I had to tell the officer that I'm a veteran, a licensed nurse, and demonstrate that I'm a speaker of Spanish, Arabic and Cherokee before I could be treated with any dignity. Once I'd done so, he was friendly. However, I'm disturbed by the way the officer treated me that day and plan to file a formal complaint against him and the black male employee who seems to have intentionally set up the situation in the...
