The yurts are nice and are situated on a beautiful piece of property right on White Oak Creek. We have stayed at these yurts and other StayNantahala cabins several times over the years with family and friends but we will not be returning. We booked the yurts for 4 nights but asked to cancel our reservation due to an abnormal and severe weather event caused by a recent tropical storm in the Gulf region that was expected to bring heavy rains with possible flooding and strong thunderstorms to the area for the duration of our reservation. We expressed our concerns about being in the yurts during such a severe weather event considering their proximity to the creek and also considering that the yurts are essentially just a heavy membrane draped over a framework of lattice and 2x4s. I don’t think anyone who’s familiar with yurts would consider one to be an ideal place to ride out the kind of weather that was forecast for the area. None of the yurts have any adequate covered outdoor space where you can hang out during rain. In bad weather you’re simply out of luck and stuck inside. Via email correspondence. We made it clear that we felt that they were being needlessly stringent about their cancellation policy considering the abnormal weather conditions and let them know that we would no longer do business with them if they would not cancel our reservation and issue us a refund or rebook us at a later date. They did not care about retaining our business though. Lakes End or StayNantahala owner/ management were callous and indifferent to the fact that severe weather was looming and gave no consideration to our history as repeat clients or to the many referrals we’ve sent their way since we first stayed at the yurts shortly after the first two were put up. Be warned that the owner and/or management co have a take no prisoners, too bad, so sad attitude regarding cancellations inside of 30 days. Considering the cost (almost $400 per night with fees and taxes) we decided to chance it. As expected it rained almost the whole time we were there. Thankfully we were spared from the heavy thunderstorms but the rainfall was significant enough to cause some small rockslides and bring down trees in the area. Paid almost $1600 to watch TV, take some naps, take the dog out in the rain every few hours and just look out the window and watch it rain and rain. Where there was an opportunity be understanding and ensure that we continue to spend our vacation dollars renting their yurts, cabins and boats and eating at their restaurant they opted to forfeit any of our future business over one...
Read moreAbsolutely AWESOME stay! 57 years old and our luxury yurt, Tranquil Haven, was top 10 of ALL the places we've stayed! We parked our car Wednesday and never moved it again until we left Sunday! So relaxing! My wife has worked retail since college and this was the PERFECT getaway between Christmas and inventory. It's away from everything, which was great for us. It was feet away from White Creek and the sound of the running water which you could hear from inside just added to the relaxation level. You walk in to the very well appointed kitchen with beautiful marble countertops, Bosch and Whirlpool appliances, and everything you need to prepare most meals. Then you go to the living area. Tina pretty much spent most of her time on the very comfy couch. I took the leather chair. There is a 40 inch flat screen TV there and both bedrooms with Dish Network. We brought our Firestick and used it for streaming through the TV. The internet speed is very good to be so rural. The master bedroom was the only one we used, we didn't use the twin bedroom. I normally can't sleep more than a couple of nights comfortably in a strange bed but this bed the exception! We slept at least 8 hours each of the 4 nights. The walk-in shower was very nice. Each of the 4 yurts has its own outside master BR small porch, small front deck leading to the personal hot tub, personal outside gas fire pit, and shared wood fire pit with closet yurt. We didn't use any of these because it was too cold for us except the hot tub. It felt so good on these old bones! I got in it at least twice a day and being right beside the creek made for an awesome atmosphere. The only two detractions was the lighting at the pantry was poor, I had to use my phone flashlight to find things in it, and the heat pump. Heat pumps are what they are, only one night was it so cold that it couldn't keep up but there is a movable space heater and plenty of blankets. The property admin was VERY quick to respond with any emails and they were VERY accommodating! The last day there was a lite snow so the drive back over Wayah Bald was beautiful! We haven't seen snow at home in 2 years. Any year our Dawgs aren't in the playoffs we'll be back or we'll come after the playoffs are over. It was...
Read moreWow, what a great experience all around! ||It started with a wonderfully detailed email about our upcoming trip, answering any questions we might've had about the cabin, location, amenities, etc, so we felt prepared going into our trip. We walk into our cabin to find a personalized letter with contact info to reach out if we need anything and a basket with little snacks & goodies on the house for us to enjoy. The house was absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, and included everything we might've needed to enjoy our stay.||We went in early spring, so too cold to swim -- but we rented a pontoon boat and spent many a days fishing and boating around the lake. The boat was fantastic -- comfortable, spacious, and high quality. On the days we weren't boating, we enjoyed the jacuzzi, played board games on the patio or dock, and went on several hikes (there's SO many beautiful trails to choose from in the area). ||We prepared ahead of time to make our own meals on the days the Lakes End Cafe was closed, which worked out great with the fully stocked kitchen! However, on the days it was open, we enjoyed eating out for lunch/dinner at the Cafe. Let me tell you, we had some AMAZING food! It had a great atmosphere with friendly staff and even great prices. Two thumbs up!||And to wrap it up, the entire staff and community were just wonderful, caring people. The owners of the cabins and cafe were working right alongside their crew making sure they had the direction and support they needed, even helping grill & prepare the food and serving plates to customers. They would check in with us during our meal to see how our stay was going. You can tell they genuinely cared.||Highly recommend Lake Nantahala to anyone who enjoys the best of nature with...
