When we had to evacuate for Hurricane Harvey and all the flooding we went to the fairgrounds well we had to move a few of our family members and a few of our friends and other people who didn't have the means to get out of the flood waters me and my husband work tirelessly for 3 Days to get people to a safe neutral ground where everybody was because of the flooding even with this going on I was pregnant volunteering helping making sure people had what they needed my husband is the wrecker driver for lube-n-tune in Angleton Texas and is also a volunteer fireman and first responder. the treatment that was given to us while at the fairgrounds should not have been put on anybody. I was considered a high risk pregnancy but was not put on bed rest I had to park my vehicle close to my trailer because I couldn't really walk long distances well the Brazoria County Fair Association threw a fit and they bashed us on Facebook saying that they were going to drag us back to the entrance of holiday Lakes because they won't accept our kind out there for one we are not from holiday Lakes we live on Bastrop Bayou we had a beautiful house until the flood took it from us secondly this woman had made it a point to discriminate even further and call us no class Hillbillies now you tell me this... for an organization that is supposed to be for the greater good of Brazoria County why would they treat us like that.... I can tell you why because we didn't have the money that they had we didn't flaunt our riches like they do because we weren't considered high class we were discriminated on and we were basically thrown out of the only place that anybody had to go because of the floods and because of them doing this we had no choice but to leave because they were coming by our trailers beating on our doors constantly for a week straight until we left and when we left we didn't have anywhere to go all we had was our camper trailer keep in mind we have 5 kids. how in the heck are where we supposed to live and a camper trailer with five kids until the flood waters receded.they did nothing but harass us and it was very rude I will never again support the Brazoria County...

Read moreThe fairgrounds has many memories for me thru the years. As a kid I remember going with my family to ride the rides and see the animals and exhibits. Spending hours in the photo exhibit memorizing what type of pictures won the most ribbons so the next year I would enter similar ones. Now I take my own kids to not only see the fair but other events that are held at the fairgrounds like the Hurricane Expo and the Bee Keepers Association events. Also Angleton Market Days twice a year for shopping fun. The only real problem is that several bond elections have failed to make needed changes and...
