This review is based on my experience with the Apoka store specifically. I normally deal with the Casselberry store, where management has been doing right by me. My issue has never been with the Caaelberry store but more with Shoot Straight's practices as a whole that I have witnessed. Maybe I expect too much from a $1,200 executive membership...
In any case I went in to trade a gun for another one. I have already received a quote for the trade in from the Caaelberry store, and was at the Apoka store because the gun I wanted to trade for was in the warehouse which is at the Apoka location. I've also had a quote for that gun already from the executive member team.
My son and I entered the store and went to the manager and advised why we were there and stressed that to our understanding there was a $100 difference and we wanted to see if he could do anything more for us on the trade in or the one we're purchasing.
After a while he came back giving us our gun back and said we're just too far apart without any explanation. Making it almost clear he didn't want us to buy it.
This is the wrong way to attempt a sale as we were only a $100 apart to start with. It was clear we were there to purchase the gun. When you say we're too far apart, it seems as if he wasn't going to honor the quotes we received, which as anyone could imagine would solicit a defense respond and a need for an explanation.
When I asked him to explain what did he mean, he responded all confused as to what I meant by that. I was pretty upset at the time and said it just seems that evertime I come to his store something like this happens and he ends up giving me a hard time and not working with me.
I asked what happened as the difference was only a $100. He then went into an explanation starting the trade in quote I received was for trading towards a more expensive gun! I asked what was he giving me as a trade in and he quoted a price which resulted in a $200 difference. This is what he should have led with when he came back. Instead of saying we were too far apart (which again implies he didn't want to work with me on the deal).
I did ask if there was anything that can be done on the purchase price and he responded that he will not ask unless we tell him we were going to buy it.
I then asked him to give us a few as we wanted to discuss. My son and I decided we will go with the purchase but we wanted to see if they would work with us.
He went to speak with the store manager and tell him while I was on the phone. When I was done I went to them and inquired of they were going to do anything with the purchase price. He stated no and that he was told the price I quoted him was actually higher, but that he'll honor the amount I stated.
I was pretty much done at that time and was upset at the implication that I was lying on top of everything and sarcastically said I'm sure they did.
He then stated he already spoke with the executives and that he can do what he wants or thinks is right. That he didn't have to sell us the gun. He then said That he will not be disrespected in his own store. I replied that I was discussing this with him and giving him my side of how I see things. And that I can show him the email with the quote.
He then proceeded to say that if I continue doing what I was doing he will not continue with the sale!!
I sure hope he doesn't treat all customers this way!! I didn't know that as a customer I would be accused of some bad behavior and threatened with not selling me a product.
I then removed my self from from the store and let my son complete the transaction.
I honestly can say that spending the $1,200 to become an executive member had not been worth it. This incident had left be with a very bitter taste. I would...
