As an avid Gardener and honest reviewer of EVERYTHING, I will start off by saying that NO ONE pays or gives me anything for my reviews.. So, I changed upon Malaria Gardens one day as I was traversing my bike uphill on Oberon Rd. I immediately stopped because one, "Don't threaten me with a garden center" and two, I was winded! The first thing that caught my eye was the little white house on the corner. How quaint I thought. I was greeted and welcomed immediately by two super friendly young ladies. As a guy who knows his flowers(thanks Grandma!), I was immediately blown away by the selection.! But what really caught my eye were the Daturas(Devil's Trumpet)! Having been a life long fan, collector, and grower of these exotic looking blooms, I said "thank you" aloud. Finally a true Mom and Pop shop that not only knows their plants but, steps away from the gratuitous choices often found in those "Blue or Orange" ubiquitous mass retailers... I love Malaria Gardens so much that I seriously want to work for this loving, family...
Read moreI live very close to this place, but had always shopped @ Echter's because I worked for their father until the end of his life. đ I stopped in this summer, and found their petunias pretty overpriced for a single lady, but I (very hesitantly) bought 2 of the largest hanging baskets anyway. One did not look as good as the other, but they assured me it would "come back". After just a few days and one fertilizer treatment, it actually got worse! The front of my home is FULL of every kind of flower, and I work very hard to tend them....watering, fertilizing, and pruning/trimming them daily. These petunia plants looked pretty sickly after just a few weeks, and no indications why?? These baskets were $45.99 each, but the petunia baskets I purchased @ Wal-Mart for $9.94 ea. look a WHOLE LOT BETTER!!! Not going to this place again. Too overrated and definitely...
Read moreWow! I wish I wouldâve gotten the guyâs name but he was amazing just wow. I went in for potted basil plant. Unfortunately they didnât have them, but the guy in the greenhouse was so awesome and helpful. I ended up buying Some basil to transplant and a pot to plant it in.I feel very confident that itâs gonna be a success. He was very nice and patient. I feel bad because I could tell I got him in trouble, but on the other hand, I did buy a bunch because the guy was so awesome. he was not pushy and everything I asked he answered. It went away confident in what I bought, and I got some feed for my existing basil plant as well as soil to plant new basil in. Customer service is huge with me, and he went above and beyond...
