I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to escape games, I just love doing them and I have about 20 under my belt. I am trying to find immersive environments, challenging puzzles, and cool interactions, and I am going back and reviewing all of the experiences that I have done.
Evidence Locker (Mar 18, 2017; 6th Escape room; ESCAPED) Thought Puzzles: They are really hard but overly so. 4/10 These were some pretty farfetched puzzles and didn't really make me have an Ah-HA! moments. My responses to them were more, "Really...that's what we do?..." They didn't cause enjoyment or make me feel stupid because I missed something obvious, they were overly difficult and convoluted. A lot of it was more of scavenger hunt than puzzles that you had to work out.
Visuals: 7/10 Audio: N/A Overall Immersion: 5/10 (traditional; solve puzzles rather than set design) Clue System: 4/10 (Communicate through walkie-talkies while the Gamemaster looks at you through a slide window in the door) It was very strange and almost uncomfortable. Venue: 9/10 Love the set-up. Pool table, puzzles, couches. Very big open space. Staff: 10/10 (We had a new trainee game mastering us and she was awesome and I hope she is doing well now. They talked us through everything and made us feel welcome.
Overall Impressions: 4/5 Staff is friendly and helpful, but I didn't really see the effort that was put in as far as immersion. It was more here is the room, solve things, good luck. Not really story to it. The focus is more on the puzzles but unfortunately they were overly difficult at times and the scavenger hunt aspect is okay in moderation but that was way over the top. The gamemaster couldn't even keep up with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give this place negative reviews, I would. They donāt even deserve a star. We spent money to play an escape room game where you solve puzzles. The first step of that game had a clue smeared off. This made it where we could not move to even the second step and was left in a room walking in circles for an hour. After the āhelperā tried to show us how to do it and realized it was smeared keeping us from solving the first lock. They then took our picture and put it on the loser board and offered us 50% off when we come back. Thatās an embarrassment of customer service and how to run an operation. If the first puzzle canāt be solved the game is pointless and our money is wasted. Try using any other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here twice for office team building events. The staff has been energetic and helpful throughout orientation and introducing the escape rooms. Each room has a well developed and unique theme that engaged my new team members and kept me guessing even as a returning escapist. The staff member supervising our room was quick to offer helpful directions and manage our stress without giving away any answers for free. There are plenty of small hints along the way that make you reevaluate old hints in new ways. I recommend it. Parking is limited and carpooling is...
