I responded to an ad on Craig's List for a bedroom set that was in a booth at Junk in the Trunk. The booth owner and I negotiated on the price and she agreed to sell it to me for a little less than what she was asking. I told her I was coming on a Saturday and she said that was great and she would mark the pieces to reflect the price we agreed on and email me after she did. I drove 250 miles round trip to pick up the pieces. (The booth owner was well aware of the distance I was driving and that I was coming.) Imagine my surprise when I told them what I was there to get and they told me another woman had bought it earlier that day. They said the booth owner mentioned that I was coming for that set, but she didn't say to put it on hold, so they sold it. I was told that it wasn't the booth owner's place to be selling the pieces, so it didn't matter what she had told me. (So why is she putting ads on Craig's List?) They said it was in their shop so they were the ones that would be doing the selling. The owners said the other woman was there first and paid first so I was out of luck. Why would a booth owner negotiate a price on something and then not put it on hold for you when she knew you were driving that far for it? I also don't understand why the shop owners would not honor that. Poor communication skills and...
Read moreAntique shopping is one of my favorite things to do so of course I had to to do some while I'm visiting Athens.
Walking in, the set up of this cute venue is very similar to the store we have at home. Little booths of independent sellers. Every booth is different and unique.
I love all the stuff they have here. Old pyrex mixing bowls are something I love to collect and there were many of them available. It was fun looking at all the differnt booths and seeing what they had for sale.
It was a neat experience coming here and seeing all the goodies they had. This is one of the coolest stores I have been at while in Athens. If you love antique or junk shopping, this place a...
Read moreThis is one of the best stores in Athens to find antiques and furniture. There are very friendly ladies working the front. The owner doesn't have a booth there, which is very nice because at a lot of places the owner will try to complete against the people and take the advantage of having no rent. The store is always clean. There is usually some free candy near the door which is a nice touch. They also have inexpensive drinks that are great for those hot summer days. The best part of this store is the frequency in which merchandise is sold and replaced... The booths stay full and you hardly ever see the same things on...
