New-To-You Thrift Shoppe — Local services in Athens

I am sharing a terrible experience my family and I had here. Last night we parked there after hours to walk my 83 year old mother-in-law (who has mobility issues) and 9 year-old nephew, who were down from Columbus, down the bike trail to see some fire flies and stars. We arrived back to our cars about 10 minutes later to several cruisers and flashlights in our face. We were accosted by the police, called "subjects", and had no idea what was going on. This business has extreme no trespassing rules and cameras everywhere. They leave their items outside and have issues with theft because of it. The treatment we received was unbelievably extreme for the situation. We had no idea we were doing anything wrong and when New-to-You called the police they told the police they had told us to leave and that we were stealing something. However, we believe they are incredibly racist and might have only seen my Cambodian sister-in-law and Nephew entering the trail head. None of that was true and we would have been more than happy to move the vehicles had we known. The police took our licenses and charged us with a trespassing warning. I absolutely loved this place BUT, about a year ago I went there to furnish a 3 bedroom home & a 1 bedroom home. I spent over $1,000 there. The furniture was ok but not what I picked out & put on hold so when I got there instead of loading up I had to pick out everything all over again. Then after getting everything home & together we started finding bed bugs & have been fighting them ever since. We have spent well over $3,500 to get rid of them and are still continuing to fight them!!!! All I am saying is they will NEVER have business from us ever again & I suggest no one else does either because they claim to spray & sanititize everything but evidently not because we moved into an empty newly built home with no problems beforehand but now we do & have ever since buying furniture there. Just look at everything VERY closely when buying any furniture or anything with fabric. Just watch out & be safe & eyes open when looking around because they are ridiculous...

They have tons of items to look through, I only made it a quarter of the way through the store, found house hold things, n shoes for my husband and cloths n a nice dressy gray jacket n a few hoodies. Made it over to sheets n found 3 nice pillows we needed. Was there for 2 n 1/2 hours n they said 10 mins till closing time I was still rummaging through the store and I finally checked out, spent $21 bucks on a cart load. I was so excited and surprised. Wanting to return very soon to look at the rest of the stuff. I recommend you go to the this store u'll find something u'd like or need n cheap also cheaper than Goodwill. Love...
