Just had my new Storm Phaze II ball drilled by John. John first looked at my ball delivery with my existing ball (Storm Atomic Charge from '2005' to determine my delivery, ball speed, and then marked the tracking pattern on my ball to determine the axis point). To my surprise, my previous purchase was still in his computer records.
This is specialized customer service. We then went into the Pro Shop, where John reference my ball type, the interior weight block type (symmetrical), cover stock (solid reactive), RG, PSA and PAP, and explained what each value is, and what drilling placement relative to the PIN would cause the ball to react.
All this on a ball I had ordered online (which BTW, now cost more because even though the Pro shop's cost was $5.00 more than I had paid with shipping for the same ball the reduced drilling cost offset the total purchase price).
John then measured my thumb and fingers for the perfect fit for the inserts I wanted, calibrated the span between the thumb and first knuckles for a customized grip, then molded the thumb insert to match the width. Fits like a dream.
I'll be purchasing my next ball from him,...
Read moreWas not very satisfied with my experience; I made a decision on a pair on display. I made my payment on them, then they were ordered. After the transaction was completed, he then verified if I was a lefty or righty bowler (this is something that should be confirmed with before making a purchase). The shoes I just purchased did not come available for left handed bowlers. He did his research and found me a pair that worked for me but only had it available to look at in the catalog. I wished he had a pair in store to look at but he informed me that I can return them if I don't like them. He told me he would call me the next week when they came in. I never got a call. I waited another week and I had to call to confirm they were in. I drove the 20 minutes to go check them out. I didn't like the way they looked. They just looked put together very cheaply yet they were $170 shoes. I said I didn't want them and that's when he told me about the $15 restocking fee. The communication was poor, long...
Read moreI made a last minute request to get a new ball drilled because I was leaving the state. This is my first bowling ball and John graciously accommodated me, despite feeling under the weather which I really appreciated. He did an awesome job explaining to me the fitting process and taking my feedback during the fitting. The ball fits like a glove and instantly improved my average from 90 (with house balls) to 150. If you’re just getting into bowling then a fitted ball is a must if you want to have proper form and control. John provided excellent service in this regard and I can’t recommend his shop enough!
Prices were reasonable to me, $40 for fingertip drilling plus inserts, just remember you’re also paying for the knowledge and skill, not just some holes and rubber plugs. Tip, to dial in the feel you should buy tape and customize it further because your finger will always vary in...
