The wife and I visited on Saturday 8/1/20. It has been many years since we had attended a drive in movie and with the weather forecast to be unseasonably cool, we decided to take advantage. I believe what most people that are leaving negative responses miss, is the nostalgia of this place. It's meant to take you back in time to another place. We had a fantastic time and was impressed with how the place had been kept up. Could they replace the small bathrooms and concession stands with shiny new buildings?....sure, but it just wouldn't be the same. People will complain about anything these days. The experience was perfect for us. We really enjoyed the National Anthem being played before the movie started and watching everyone rise to their feet. The full moon rose over the Drive-In and was beautiful. We will definitely be back. Thanks Sunset Drive-In!!

We had an amazing time. It was my first drive in since I was an infant and we chose to watch Advengers Endgame. Wow such an Epic Marvel movie. Your staff was friendly. However your not getting a 5 star rating because when asked about tentative bookings the young man behind the counter couldnt give me a definitive answer. He stumbled over himself like he was unsure and nervous. Instead of potentially misleading a patron he should have double checked with a member of the Management staff. And gotten back with me. This happened at the beginning of the 2nd movie when the concession stand was super slow.

A cloudless, moonlit, starry July night punctuated by "Elf" and "Christmas Vacation" in the open air atmosphere of one of the last, legitimate, remaining drive-in movie theaters sparsely populating the midwest. From tailgate parties, to family friendly staff and polite patrons; The Sunset Drive-in is a downright super saver bargain of corndogs, popcorn, ticket prices, and a time traveling return to 1970. Buy the ticket, take the ride, and return to a perfectly preserved past and glimpse the roots of genuine Americana, before it was decimated by corporate raiders, politicians and big pharma.

So I'll start this review with the concessions. I simply asked for some packets of mustard or at least a side of mustard and was told they are not allowed to do this anymore. So I asked "what if I buy something?" And they again said they can't do it anymore. So I then asked "can I at least have some napkins?" (I was being very polite not angrily) and then I believe the manager in the back there yelled "just send him to the window!" And I said "really, I'm not trying to cause problems." But I went to the window anyway and was given a side of ketchup and mustard and told next time just ask for them when you order. So I just said okay and walked out.

My fiancé and I then waited the hour and a half until the movie started and someone behind us politely asked us to turn our head lights off. We then realized we couldn't. Our fog lights on the jeep renegade couldn't be turned off. It was a rainy day and we knew that once the movie screen had turned on we couldn't get a refund. But as we were trying to figure it out a security guard came to us and was pretty rude saying "well how do they turn off at home?" And I said "well when the car is off." And he told me "then turn it off." I even offered to put blankets over the lights but he didnt care. So I tried turning it off to watch the movie with no sound but he also mentioned "either turn your vehicle around or go to the back." So we tried turning around.

A manager had been researching how to turn these lights off for us and then approached us and tried helping to turn them off. We both looked at the owner manual and couldn't figure it out so he suggested moving to the back. Again we understood there are no refunds if you leave but we didn't want to move to the back and watch the movie in the rain. I appreciated him trying to help but he said there was no possibility for a refund even under these odd circumstances.

Terrible first drive in experience. We spent money on the tickets to wait for an hour and a half and then left after the first 15 minutes of the movie we didn't...

I dont normally leave reviews if they are bad and that is due to working for a company that your bonus is based off reviews. I do want to say the kid in the snack bar on june 22nd 2019 around 950pm was amazing he was stressed and dealt with alot of upset customers but he was friendly apologetic and doing his best. He deserves a raise...

My issue is we got there around 7 and got set up and and went at 730 to get food, my toddler was excited to meet woody so we ordered the pizza round up deal, knowing it was one person delivering and alot pizzas ordered we anticipated a small wait. After an hour and half no pizza and others who ordered after got their food. So my husband went up to see how long, we were told it would be delivered by the end of the movie they were backed up we waited a bit after another thirty minutes i went up there and was told after waiting 2 hrs that it was being delivered to my car, i walk back to my car and my son and husband are still waiting and still no delivery after twenty minutes i went back up and again the kid earlier is phenomenal and apologized again. I asked for a refund it was given and i was told they mixed up alot of orders and ours was handed out wrong, I got my refund asked for hotdogs and corndogs and was given rude service waiting I was told it would be about 15 min I stepped back and said i would wait and that was fine by me i moved out of the way. The girl got snippy then vanished to the back. I finally got my food and walked back. Because of going back and forth i was not able to see the movie due to waiting on food and my toddler was hungry and wanting to meet woody....

This ruined our trip and we will not be back Poor customer service aside that kid... and organization as not just ours but several people orders were handed...

Worst place. Owners are rude and absolutely have no customer service. They treated my family so awful and will never go back. This place would be great, if had better management.

I can’t find my review from when we went and their rude response, but I did find a very rude response the owner gave another person who was unhappy. Wow what awful customer service.

( was not given to me, but our response was just about as rude”

“Sunset Drive In Theatre (Owner) a week ago Sorry your experience was so bad. You are either a very unhappy person or very hard to please. (Maybe both). Also, sorry you couldn’t have told us at the time instead of the whole world. You keep your true identity hidden. Probably a good idea.”

Sunset Drive In Theatre (Owner) a week ago Definitely not rundown! I don’t know what your problem was, but, you’re definitely hard to please! Perhaps you’re better off someplace else! Best wishes!

I found my son in laws review and this rude comment from owner.

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had. Not just for a drive in or even a theatre. The absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had for anything. We had to wait over 2 hrs for food. They over booked and another car hit my father in laws car parking in a spot that isn’t even a designated area. The bathrooms are a complete disaster, when we got our food, it was atrocious. I will never give this place a dime of my money again

Sunset Drive In Theatre (Owner) 2 years ago Why did you bother to give us one ⭐? That’s one more than we would give you. But, you know what? People like you wouldn’t be satisfied anywhere. If we were to knowingly know you were to return, we would refuse service. I feel for the next...
