We began out journey with Archadeck in February 2020 to turn our dilapidated (300) sq. foot patio into an enclosed extension of our living room and add an enclosed laundry room. Initially, they seemed on the ball with Jim Shallon coming over to make design plans and to get the ball rolling. That is where any sense of reliability ended: Months would pass with no contact or updates with what was going on. We waited easily about (6) months our more to even get our permits from the city. I had to call every 2 weeks or so to even get any information from Archadeck. Once we had the permits we never knew what would be going on or even WHEN people would show up to do work. They would appear one day and be gone for days or even weeks the next day. Again, no reliable communication from Jim Shallon or our project "manager" Wes Vann. Workers were also inconsistent. Sometimes we would have Israel and his team out (who do amazing work) and other times it would be a completely new team that looked like they had no idea of what had been done or what to do next. Again, no communication about the change in craftsmen. About a year or so in---one of our permits had expired. You would think that our lead Jim Shallon or our project "manager" Wes Vann would have alerted us to this. Nope, we found out about when the city of Austin came for an inspection and failed us due to the permit expiring. By this time the project was already taking months and months and months longer than we even anticipated. The only time that Jim Shallon would call us was to collect a check or money. Even then he would call hours or a day before it was due saying that he needed it ASAP. After the first time that happened we thought it must have been unusual. We told him multiple times to let us know a few days or even a week before when he needed money so we would have it ready. Nope. That never really happened. Then we would tell him a time frame of when we would be home for him to come by (we both work and travel for work at times). Surprise! We were told that often 5:00 or after "was not possible as their working day ended at 5:00". Ok. No phone calls letting us know when he would be by or time frame led to Jim coming over at awkward times and not respecting our time if we had to leave for an event or prior engagement. Overall, our (300 sq. ft) new room was finally completed in November 2022. Almost (2) years since we began...
Read moreArchadeck of Austin transformed a portion of my backyard which was essentially a mud pit, due to drainage issues, into a gorgeous patio with a built-in, natural gas, fire pit. This was no small feat because the area needed to be both leveled and trenched for the interconnecting 5 french drains and 3 catcher box emitters.
Jim from Archadeck was more that just a sales person. I was so impressed with his professionalism and responsiveness. On his very first visit, he was able to design the area using his tablet and address the water runoff issues right there and then. Other companies, that I sought estimates from, couldn't provide this quality of service. His communication skills are superb and would always respond quickly to my texts, emails, and phone calls. He also wore the hat of project manager with frequent visits and because of his experience, he was able to provided solutions for some of the more challenging issues.
The crew, lead by Flor the foreman, were extremely skilled, hard working, punctual, and friendly. The masonry work was outstanding. Flor's communications skill are also excellent along with his experience. He was quite effective in guiding his crew on what needed to be done.
The 4' x 6' fire pit was solidly constructed with a concrete foundation, brick walls, and interior cinderblock firewall. Underground electricity was run for the electronic ignition and 2 electrical outlets. Both the electrical and plumbing for the gas were performed by professional, certified, tradesman.
I'm extremely satisfied with the outcome and Archadeck's quality of service...
Read moreI hired Archadeck to rebuild my patio. I previously had the old roof removed due to structural damage, and it felt like replacing the rest was the best course of action. I discussed the features I wanted, inquired about costs, and Jim Schallon was helpful throughout the process. After giving the go ahead, Jim sent me a rendering, and I approved. Some weeks later, he provided me with a copy of the architectural drawings, which is nice to have. Then, construction began, occurring in stages over a few months, with payments due at various milestones in the project. Jim met with me at key points in the project to address any questions or concerns I had. They did a superb job! It's beautiful, and it's so nice to spend time out there. I am extremely satisfied. There are some areas of damage that occurred as part of construction, and Jim has stated that he will arrange to have those repaired. Those repairs are pending, so I'll update this once that is taken care of (assuming edits...
