Floral Renaissance — Local services in Austin

A friend introduced me to Floral Renaissance of Austin, TX and now they are the only florist I use in the Austin, Texas area - they are amazing! I can't express enough how much of an artist Michael (the owner) is. Staff is excellent, very friendly, helpful, courteous, prompt, on-time and professional. Sure, flowers are beautiful, but Floral Renaissance takes design to the next level. We have used Michael for wedding flowers, funeral flowers, gorgeous floral centerpieces and even weekly delivery of amazing floral designs to our corporate offices. Whether it is a simple bouquet or we need to transform the entire room, Michael is a visionary floral artist who designs dramatic arrangements that are breathtaking. I just love their floral work, they provide great service, great prices and even with their speedy delivery, they are cheaper than 1800Flowers or some of the competitors. When I need to make a statement, Floral Renaissance of Austin gets my call. You won't be disappointed! Recently I had a need for sympathy or Funeral Flowers and almost forgot to ask Floral Renaissance of Austin. I'm use to buying flowers for more happy occasions like Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Birthday's and Secretaries Day. I even have them send flowers to more girlfriend automatically once a month. I pre-selected the floral arrangement and wrote out 6 little cards. So for the next six months my girl friend gets Roses, Carnations, Daisies, Lilies, Orchids and Sunflowers with my custom written card and the florist gave me some catchy things to say on each card. I even had them use different dates each month so my girlfriend doesn't expect flowers at a certain day or know that I've pre-planned my expression of love for her. I would NOT recommend Floral Renaissance.

I ordered a $100+ bouquet of flowers for my wife to be delivered on Valentine’s Day, which was confirmed by email. But the order was never delivered. Neither my wife or I were contacted about it on Valentine’s Day. It was very disappointing to miss the day and not know what happened.

When I called them on Feb 15th, they said, “Oh yeah, we have your order. It was one of the ones we didn’t deliver yesterday. It didn’t fit on the truck...” They didn’t express any sympathy about missing the delivery, instead going into detail about their own logistical challenges, poor planning, and restrictive customer communication policies that prevented them from giving us a call about it. It was a very frustrating response. There was no accountability.

Eventually they offered two options to “resolve” this: 1) deliver the same flowers a day late at full price or 2) cancel the order completely. When pressed, they eventually agreed to throw in a very small box of chocolates with the late delivery, which was “the most they can do.”

Any business is going to occasionally make mistakes. When Floral Renaissance did, they failed in the recovery. They showed no proactive communication, empathy, or accountability. As a result, I would not recommend Floral...

Edit Update 05/11/2021: I'm editing my original review and changing from 1 star to 4. After my initial review Mike reached out and apologized and promised to send a new arrangement today. He did and it was beautiful - basically what I had expected in the first place. I am adding a picture that shows the original arrangement sent on Mother's Day on the left (which was the best upgrade) and the one sent today on the right. Huge difference.

They delivered as requested but the flower arrangement was sub-par at best. I paid for the BEST upgrade. I got an arrangement that looked like a 10 year old did it. Full of HUGE green leaves - the flowers were swallowed up. It looked like a bush with a few flowers. The flowers were already wilting. Very disappointed. Will not use again...
