Ok round. It was cart path only due to heavy rains so it really slowed things down. Using my GPS app, the playing time for a Saturday morning tee time was 4 hr, 52 min. Not bad, but slow. Keep in mind if cart path only.
Also concerning on the course was the observation of a 6-some that was playing together on the back 9. Not sure why nothing was done to fix this - it was called in to the pro shop.
Also two significant course set-up issues to address: 1.) Blue Tees tee box on #6 set up to the far right (right of the path) forcing a fade off of the tee box. Not an optional fade, but a forced fade or a significant 200 yard+ layup. Everyone in our group hit straight which ended up on the left side of the fairway @ 150 and necessitating a walk across the fairway as the cart path was on the right side. Not exactly ideal set-up given cart-path only when alternate tees promoting a straight tee shot were also available on the hole 2.) MASSIVE tree hanging over #9 green approach, essentially "blocking" any approach shot up in the air. Given the safe play is to hit to the right side of the fairway (Away from the water) and then onto the green, this set up was BEGGING you to take the risky and aggressive line left which brought the lake into play. Again, questionable course set-up and a tree that should definitely be trimmed back so it doesn't encroach on the...
Read moreIf you're playing the Legacy 18, you're paying for the "Legacy" name cause it's not what it used to be. What used to be such a beautiful course has now turned into a free for all.
First off, the course, to its credit , is still a fairly nice course with well-kept fairways and tee boxes. However the greens are beat up with ball marks and the occasional brown/dead spots.
Where the biggest problem lies is the pace of play, etiquette, and management. For a course that prides itself in the first two, no way should a 9 take 3+ hours to play with a group holding up 3 separate groups on one hole. I like being left alone as much as the next person on a course, but a group taking that long, walking through bunkers, and tearing up the course should be checked on by a ranger? Not once the entire round was that the case. Last time I checked, basketball jerseys weren't proper attire per Legacy, but I digress.
Save yourself the time and money and find another place to play or go into with extremely low expectations and hopefully be surprised...
Read moreOn a beautiful and scenic golf course is this totally charming restaurant. With its winding drive and large, welcoming entrance, and what you might expect to find when you enter is even better than what you thought. A number of dining rooms, a dazzling vaulted ceiling, an expansive bar, and a curved wall of windows overlooking the greens. Afternoons are mainly for lunches of various salads, appetizers, hearty sandwiches and some entrees as well. Their dinner menu favors a greater selection of the entrees and all the sides, salads and apps that will appeal to just about every palate. In a nutshell, the food is really, really good; and for you coffee lovers, you're in for a nice surprise of a delicious cup of coffee too. Selections are plentiful, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the views are beautiful, but most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious. If you haven't already been here then you simply must give it a try. It's one of the special treasures on the west...
