I would recommend Avon Rehab Hospital to anyone who needs acute rehab care. I was them for three weeks as part of a long recovery after a car accident in July. Everyone on the staff was excellent to deal/work with. Quite the team.
The nursing staff was professional and friendly. They treated me with respect and dignity.
My PT, Shane, I canât say enough good things about. His patience and skill will always be remembered. Though we were somewhat limited on what we could work on at first things progressed exponentially. Improvement was seen each day. Ethan was also very good the couple of sessions we had together.
My OT Allison was outstanding as was another OT that worked with me. Sorry I cannot remember her name. Both seemed to know how much I was able to do and kept taking me a bit further.
Tinaâs discharge info/instructions was A1. She could not do enough for me and my family.
Though I still have a long way to go with both home therapy and the out patient therapy Avon Rehab Hospital was a wonderful experience as a step...
Read moreMy 86 year old mother was transferred to this wonderful facility in March after suffering a mini stroke. She was there over two weeks and during that time was given wonderful care by the medical staff. She underwent a daily regimen of therapies including: Occupational, Physical, and Speech. She didn't like all of these therapies but knew it would help in her recovery. She appreciated the variety of the food they served as they offered different meal options each day. I want to especially thank the following 'critical care' team that watched over my mom and provided their talents to improve her health and recovery: Angel, Angie, Jayne, Patty, Ashley, Molly, Tina, Christine. There were many others and I forgot their names but they know who they are. There was even a nice young man who came every day to deliver my mom's meals to her from the hospital kitchen. I never got his name but he was as hard working as the critical care team. Kudos to the staff at this facility, and thank you again EVERYONE who helped my mom in...
Read moreWhile the facility was clean and nursing staff and therapists were very helpful and supportive, our family was not impressed with discharge instructions, lack of family education and poor information sharing between UH Main Campus and rehab staff. I later learned that this facility is not technically owned by UH but Kindred, which does not share charting systems or records with UH. Therefore, previous patient information is not accessible to rehab facility staff. This left a gap in care that was not resolved, which I frankly find dangerous for patients. I am disappointed with the lack of transparency, communication and efforts to provide family with recommendations on follow-up care and education to best support our loved one.
Would suggest looking elsewhere, however, I have a feeling this is a common trend in rehab facilities such as this. Still waiting on a return call from the facility, 6 days later....
