Cons: You won't learn all values or experience of this school. You won't even get to repair a favorable car, perhaps you won't get turning a wrench to pull an engine down individually. This isn't some cheap school anyone should attend to or it's just not for you. You can get seriously injured in this industry even at labs you can severly cut yourself. The courses feel long after some time and the days are super short. Very flexible but can impact on learning certain capabilities or information that may be required to finish a few more assignments, perhaps interact more with parts.
Pro: The instructors are the best selected in each of their fields, longevity, and humor. They have much experiences even though they repeat the same stories but that's what instructors do. That's how you learn. Plus their stories are unique and funny. Although many students bad mouth instructors or do whatever thing they want to. From my experience the instructors are great people. I've been an exceptional student from day 1. Most tools are used and repeated for learning however other tools you may only grab it once before you don't use it again and time passes before you touch it again or dont and forget how to interact with it. Community/friends; are people who you will interact from daily basis sometimes you wont see them again(cycle of life i guess). I got very lucky to begin with some great people. Meet my best friend there! Interact, smile, and you'll fit in somewhere even with an instructor by the way those are the better friends you could ever make. Lots and lots and lots... of learning material. You will understand every individual component of a vehicle however not individual brand of a component however function most of the time similar to what the learning material describes it or instructor. This school does encourage to work in groups however sometimes its better to work individual as that'll be the best way to learn at this school (time limits that though).
Important notes: This school is for someone who needs an introduction on mechanics to a car. Not a school for someone who already knows and is up to date with all components or majority of them.
Do not yell at people when the instructor isn't teaching or asking people to focus or silence. Everyone is going to be talking about you
Remain on everyone's good side and not forge any signatures, cheating, etc. They are actually very strict when it comes to that.
Save every reciept for anything you purchase
If you're on a budget bring your own snacks dont buy from vending machines theyre a rip off.
You will get lost but just ask around if you dont know even if you need to ask 5 people.
We are all adults please act like one.
Lastly just because you see it you should most likely not repeat it when it comes to doing stupid things.
My overall experience: Out of 5☆

Read morei wrote a review a long time ago and im shocked it has disappeared I went to uti in 2017 to 2020 i took the auto/diesel, ford, gm and the welding programs. Now being out for many years I'm able to put what i learned and info into the review. So i think this school is very good for teaching the basics. I have many friends that went through the manufacturing programs and are still working in the field today and enjoy it. I've asked them if they felt uti was worth it and all of them have said they feel it does, now for me i feel like the school was worth it . I do think it should be cheaper... that being said if you take your ase after taking the class 9 / 10 you will pass the test for them. Now if you want to actual make good money make sure you take the manufacturing training and get a job with one of them out the gate. I got many job offers for ford and gm when i finished. The school will teach you many of things and the teachers are very good(most of them were tech) and if you listen to them you will learn tricks of the trade but its very basic. Once you finish the school you will have to take what you learn and apply it while also remembering that you will always be learning in the auto field. i do feel like thought your schooling you will hear your going to make blank and most of those offers were untrue , unless you get your ase and get as much manufacturing training as you can and stick to a specific manufacturing and get master cert rating for them to make the big money. out the door i didnt get offer so much (2018 $18 flat rate) once i did get out and get couple years under my belt i left the field making ($30 flat rate) . this school can help you become a tech and have many people to help you get jobs and network. this school is for dealer work ALOT for students come to do performance an they do have some really cool classes at the end for it ..but its mosty bases around working at a dealer and doing warranty work etc. now i built my (drift car) while going through the program and the classes do come into play if you pay attention! a lot of student half a$$ and cheat through the classes even though they are very easy. and if you fail a class you aren't trying because it is setup so you pass i say its 60/40 class work to shop work. Overall i think good school, good teachers.... pay attention and you will get a job I went through the welding program during covid so i cant give honest review because classes were really messed up and school closed down and re opened in months . I learned to weld so i can do fab work in my garage i made life long friends at this school and learn so much i cant explain... i toss some pictures of my dd at the time and guest of another professional Drifter Andrew S that went to school there and he happened to stop by on lunch at school to show his car to students @Sideways_McGee i made couple videos on uti...
Read moreMy husband and I were so excited when we found out he had been "accepted" to uti in avondale arizona. After living in a very small town in idaho we were excited to get out and see a little more than our next door neighbors. When we moved here to az my husband got a job working as a diesel mechanic the reason we were going through school was to get that so loved certificate that employers love to see. From the first day we started school at this horrible place until even after he had graduated it was a nightmare after trying to get paper work done and waiting for hours to be seen and then them not even being able to help you with the problem it was so frustrating. My husband hated pretty much every class that was needed to be taken for him to graduate with about 4 months left he decided to test out of his last classes because he couldn't stand how horrible the teaching was and that sitting at a desk was not really teaching him anything besides how to watch people take their money from you claiming things will be hands on. (I think this school is for people who have no idea what or even where the engine or other things are in the car) after testing out and graduating we received a call stating that because we tested out we have to come up with the money because our student loans would not cover because if You test out uti changes how they bill that out. they bill out by credited hours not credits themselves so their for we had to come up with 5 grand! At this point my husband had been a diesel mechanic for about 4 years now and had most of the tools he needed well you know how you get that 1000 dollar snap on credit? Oh by the way did you know that expires 90 days after you gradutate? Oh us either until we specifically asked someone then they Told us. Well turns out that when you go to use your snap on credit you don't get to use that credit on WHATEVER you want like we were told, you get to choose from 4 different selections of what they offered through that deal talk about ridiculous. So all in all I'm saying don't ever waist your time and money going there. If you can just start working in the field and work your way up and let your employer help you get certified in what they need then do it. Make sure that if you choose to go to this school and disregard this review make sure you read ALL of the fine print. Even though that won't help because at the school they have a whole different book of problems there. THEY TAKE ALL...
