A beautiful place overrun with people. There are way too many people in the East Fork of the San Gabriel River. The canyon this weekend (6/30/2024) was unbelievable. A swimming hole oasis has turned into a blight due to the overwhelming number of people trashing the area. My recommendation is to go mid-week or wait until summer is over. A $20 per car fee should be implemented during the summer months to control the crowds, chaos and pay for trash cleanup. EDIT: 9/9/24 Oh, what a shocker—over 100 degrees in the LA basin and now there’s a fire in San Gabriel Canyon. I mean, who could have predicted that? Especially with people carrying portable BBQs down to the river. I’m sure that had absolutely nothing to do with it. Hmmm, I wonder how this one started?...
