If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is horrible. I signed a lease in July and cannot wait to get out. The hallways are constantly filthy. This week, there has been vomit and a dead mouse. The people upstairs just throw their unwanted mail on the floor, and because the staff is too lazy, it only gets cleaned when I put in a demanding maintenance request. The dumpster area is absolutely disgusting and filled with rats. People come by and dump on the regular, so get there early or you're forced to either bring your trash back to your apartment or throw it on the ground. Great, right? On top of that, you're charged almost $30 a month for trash that you aren't told about! The leasing agent, M., is a liar and beyond disrespectful. She will ignore your emails and lie to your face until you threaten legal action and then all of a sudden she wants to help you. When first renting the apartment I contacted corporate about the price it was listed at- she ignored my emails for three days until I contacted corporate. Should have been a clue! Later I had issues and she told me she couldn't help me because I contacted corporate. I have asked to speak with the manager probably a hundred times, and still- nothing. We haven't had hot water in weeks- it's been luke warm , and they have been by to "fix it". Some good that did. I have a feeling that since utilities are "included" they turned the hot water heater down because they don't want to pay for the gas. The front lock on the door is broken, so random people in the neighborhood just come hang out and get belligerently drunk in the hallway. Put in a maintenance request because I was told it would be fixed in July, and I would soon be provided with a key. What did they do? They marked the maintenance request done and M. again, lied and told me it was fixed. How can it be fixed if it doesn't lock? Whatever, I'll start calling the police, no big deal to me. Ugh also mention that they refused to give us a parking pass, so we have been parking our car over a mile away. Was told that even though we only have one car, I couldn't have a pass because the car wasn't in my name. We were given permission to add my boyfriend to the lease- what did they do? They ignored all my emails providing the info they needed and asked for until I finally gave up. They told us we can rent a parking space for $75 a month. When I caved and said that was fine, there was all of a sudden a waiting list!!! I've called corporate, and apparently they don't care. there are many other things I can complain about but I think this is enough. STAY AWAY! Give your money to someone else! JBG Corporation knows of the situation and is doing NOTHING to rectify this horrible apartment complex. They've done nothing but lie and told downright lies to my face to get me to sign a lease....

I lived in Olde Salem Village and had one of the worst rental experiences of my life. Here’s why I strongly advise you not to move here: • Fraudulent & Excessive Utility Billing: There are no separate meters for apartments. Every month you are charged $250+ for water/sewer whether you use it or not. You end up paying for common areas and other units’ usage. • Severe Parking Issues: After 6 PM, there is no parking available at all. I had to drive around the community for hours just to find a spot. Half the parking is “reserved,” the other half is informally “taken” by tenants with management connections. They even towed my car twice from within the community. • Lack of Safety: My car was broken into in the community parking lot. Management refused to provide camera footage, claiming cameras “weren’t working” — seemingly to protect the suspect. • Misleading Leasing Practices: Before signing the lease, they tell you one story. After signing, you will face constant stress and surprise charges. • Crime & Disturbances: Drug users and dealers are commonly seen in the community at night, and police are frequently called or conducting raids. It does not feel safe at all. • Escalated to Fairfax County: I had to file a complaint with Fairfax County Department of Cable & Consumer Services (DCCS). After months, management offered me an early lease termination because living here had become unbearable. I accepted, moved out, but they still kept my $765 security deposit and are now demanding over $3,000 more — which I am disputing and will take to court.
If you value safety, honesty, and peace of mind, do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. There are far better options nearby for the same rent — without the overbilling, parking nightmare, and...
Read moreI hate to say that I spent a good portion of my childhood in this apartment complex. Growing up, I experienced both worlds—spending school days in the more expensive part of Arlington, VA, with my mom and weekends and long breaks here with my grandma. This place is a nightmare and absolutely not safe for children.
I understand that this is a low-budget option for families who can’t afford more, but please don’t settle for this place. The hallways are filled with mice, bugs, mold, dirt, broken glass, and cigarette butts. It’s unacceptable. JBG Corporation should be ashamed for taking advantage of poor and undocumented immigrants who just want a better life here, tricking them into signing leases with false promises.
As a child growing up here, it was truly traumatizing. No child or woman should have to live in these conditions. Even now, at 25 years old, just driving past this complex brings back terrible memories. I have deep empathy for the families still trapped here, and I’m beyond grateful that my grandma made it out of this place.
