The Pumpkin Center U.S. Postal Office on Taft Highway is one of the cutest little post offices I’ve seen! It has such a nostalgic, small-town charm that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time—in the best way possible.

The building itself is humble and cozy, with that perfect vintage character you just don’t find in modern places anymore. It’s the kind of spot you’d see in an old movie or a postcard from mid-century America. There's a simplicity to it that’s incredibly refreshing—a reminder of how things used to be, when life felt just a little slower and friendlier.

My parents have lived out in the country for decades. I was visiting them today and needed to go to the post office and stopped by this location. First of all, they close from 12-1 for lunch. So I came back right at 1pm. Unfortunately, there was a long line of us waiting 15 minutes until they casually walked in to reopen at 1:15pm from a long lunch. Not only was this unprofessional, but they didn’t even acknowledge us waiting in line. Then, I was told “we don’t do receipts here” for the package I was mailing that was ENTIRELY packaged and labeled… it was an expensive item and I was not about to leave without a receipt.. thirdly, the USA flag hanging out front was completely torn to shreds. This place lacks respect and professionalism and the US Post office should be and know better. Please avoid this place and maybe look into correcting some of...

I never knew this USPS even existed and I lived in Bakersfield my whole life. Well I only came to this location because it was down the street from my home and I knew they closed at 5pm. So I went to this location since it’s closer and I knew I make it before they closed. Online says they closed at 5pm but apparently this location decides to close thier window at 4:30pm and leave their lobby open at 5pm. So I’m asking can I get some help (not knowing the window was closed already) and they plan just give me attitude because I came in and ask for assistance because they’re “closed”. Saying “ We are closed! Come back tomorrow, we close our window at 4:30pm and keep the door open just for the lobby till 5pm! Read the signs!” They just need to be closed permanently since they can’t operate like...
